is it best to put money in higher interest rate saving account--then when you reach max allowance for ISA put savings in?or just save straight into an ISA at lower rates?

Oh yes, I got about £69 worth of points so am delighted! Also called CS to complain about not getting a points mailing in ages as I wanted the £5 off electrical beauty voucher (want to get one of those Nutriheat hairdryers) and they kindly added another 500pts to my account wayhey!!!! I won't have to pay for toiletries for ages - plus I already have a HUGE stash at home so will use it all up before buying more.
I am deffo still on for the £30k, but will have to stop looking at the Grabbit board ha ha! The bargains are just too good but it is costing me a fortune! My Christmas shopping is almost done and then I will have to just avoid all Grabbits for the next six weeks!!!! :rotfl:Get to 119lbs! 1/2/09: 135.6lbs 1/5/11: 145.8lbs 30/3/13 150lbs 22/2/14 137lbs 2/6/14 128lbs 29/8/14 124lbs 2/6/17 126lbs

Hi all, I'm new to the board. I'm currently saving up to pay my mortgage for next year!! I'm changing careers and retraining to be a teacher so I'm saving up for my PGCE year. Started in September 09 and opened a new ISA - I'm currently up to £3,250! Once mine's full, we'll open one for my hubby and after that it's normal savings accounts!Slimming World member - started 13 January 2010Starting weight: 11st 4.5lbs :eek:/ Current weight 11stMini Goal 1: 10st 11.5lbs (1/2 stone)10% Goal: 10st 2.5lbsMini Goal 2: 9st 9.5lbsGoal weight: 9st / 2.5lbs to MG1!0

Thanks - lets see if it works when I post this.
Transfered £150 to savings today, am in the process of changing gas/electricity suppliers and am in credit with both so hopefully will get about £170 back plus quidco cashback. Also applied for new current account with HSBC (as Halifax are starting to charge £1/day for overdrafts and closing my local branch) and they are offering £50 cashback when you switch so hopefully can add that soon.......0 -
Well another £250 to my regular saver today which puts me tantalisingly close to my target for the end of the year. Barring anything horible happening (nope the car service is next month and I've got some put aside for that ...not enough but a definite helpful amount) I should get there by the end of the month.0

Expensive month
And I'm only buying one Christmas present this year, yet I'm still broke and well over budget with 10 more days of the month to go. I can't even remember my goals sometimes.
