Like some of you, I can't reveal this to friends and family - they just wouldn't understand.
This is a truly inspiring thread - well done everyone!

My mum didn't quite understand when I showed her what interest I earned on my Halifax regular saver. There was me all proud, and she was almost disgusted... This is the only time of my life I'll be able to afford to enjoy myself, etc etc... She thinks I should be putting a little away... I think anything more than £100 a month would be too much for her!
Good luck with your savings, sounds fantastic!Target Cash Net Worth: £25K by January 2012

Lucy, that's terrible! You'd think she'd be proud and pleased that you're saving for your future instead of blowing all your money and having nowt to show for it.
As long as you are still having a life (and not just sitting in a bedsit with a one-bar electric fire and ten layers of clothes refusing to do anything that might cost you money), then what is the problem?

I think everyone has obstacles when it comes to saving. Either parasite friends or certain addictions but I would only expect encouragement from my parents.
I know some parents that are like that though. For example my fiancees parents are absolute leeches. If they had million pounds in their pocket (which they might have) they would spend my last pound before they touched theirs.
It's so frustrating when my parents want to encourage us to get some money together for a house deposit perhaps and they charge my partner £5 for a 1 mile lift in a car. They're jealous of anyone that's got anything!
Sorry for writing this a bit off topic but it's better saying it here than having a potential row with my partner
Once this month is out of the way I'll stick my targets and figures on here.
Keep motivated everyone and good luck!0 -
The £11.54, came about by wanting to save up a decent amount for a holiday or other use in a way that I wont miss it? I originally wanted to transfer it daily but my bank wont let me? It adds up to just over £600 a year, which hopefully I wont notice leaving my account so will be a nice bonus in 12 months. Random i know!!! but 3 weeks later and its £34.62 up already!!Millionaire in Training

I've now been trying the 'save £1000 a month' angle... not doing brilliantly, about £100 a month so far, but better than nothing. Everyone try and save as much as they can, nows the time to get on top of spending!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Well big news here is that parents have loaned me additional sum to bring up deposit to £100,000 and I have made an offer on a property. Amount saved each month will have to go down for a while if accepted. Got my lovely interest from Halifax Regular Saver - from 10% to 0.1%. :eek:MFW 91 op 2014 £410/1000
