Isn't it amazing that everyone here is trying to save, and yet, according to this article (http://money.sky.com/mp/features/news/2009/06/02/One-fifth-of-Britons-save-nothing.html), only 1/5 of Britons are actually saving? Where is everyone? Can't they see this is sensible?

I would hazard a guess that people do not save as they are busy living for today, or, ends do not meet month on month and there is no scope for saving. I think the most advisable thing is to do tiny steps, as long as it is saving something or paying off debts.

A tough month for me, replacing the carpet and decorating the BTL, costing £370 and booked a holiday for £400, also going to see Oasis on sunday so that will be £4 a pint!!!!! so the savings are low this month, but looking forward to breaking £1000 next payday on my Regular Saver, and steadily putting aside any spare cash I can.

Continuing on the subject that only 1 in 5 adults are saving money, im suprrised its that much, hardly any of my friends having any kind of savings/pensions, we live in a live now pay later culture and only very few people are wise to the fact that cautioness will benefit you in later life.

I can save at least 10% of my salary. Since I have just started working and eventually I can increase my savings when my salary also increases.

Try to save approx 33% of salary. Sometimes more sometimes less as this month have dentist bill. (Painful in every sense!!). I am the only saver I know (apart from everyone on this board) - everyone else enocurages me to spend and if they knew just how much savings I had they would be worse.

10% of my salary is peanuts... I'll be saving til I'm old and grey if that's all I save. I'm going to have to start being really tight, or live on bread for the next few years... :rotfl:

    Value bread at that!

Good luck on your savings target. I try and use all the DFW ideas and shift chunks into savings accounts. Its very easy if the money's sitting there tempting you to spend!
