i'm a bit rubbish when it comes to having all my savings in high savings accounts! i did ask for advice on the S&I board (not this thread) and didnt get too much help. i do appreciate that there are articles and i have read them, but if anyone could help me do something with my money i'd be so happy!
I have an ISA and £3000 goes into that the first day it possibly can. i have my current account which has my wages (but i transfer a lot over to savings) and then i probably have £12k a year floating in low interest accounts.
I plan to open the TSB 8% reg. saver.... but that only trickles so much in for 2 years....so any idea where the rest would be best going? can you have more than 1 reg saver? are they the best idea ? im not keen on investing just yet as need the money available as and when for a house!
thanks in advance for any comments x

Everything is likely to be up in the air for a couple of weeks after somebody put the jump leads on some comittee in the B.of E. last Thursday but when things settle down you should be able to make an informed guess as to which a/c. is the right one for you.
You can have as many regular savers as you can afford, you mentioned Lloyds-TSB, someone on another thread said that there would be no new applications after sometime in March I believe it was. They may replace it with another "model" at a different (presumably higher) rate or they may not ! You could always get a coin and make a decision as to open one or not before the deadline.
You have only got just under 3 months before it's I.S.A. time again, April 7th this year 'cos they'll be shut on the 6th (Good Friday).0 -
just wondered how everyone was getting on this month????
i havent "saved" anything however, i have paid another 100 quid off my overdraft which means i am one step closer to joining you guys:) i should be sending another 200 quid to the overdraft before the month is out:D which means it should be standing then at £500 quid:) then its just paying that off in feb which will leave me with just the loan!!!!!! yay!!!!!November NSD's - 70 -
Hi Jamie, and everyone else
Not sure how this month is going - my regular standing orders to savings/investments will all go out as normal, so it's just a case of saving what's left over. I think surplus savings this year will go to home improvements - the house needs rewiring, a new roof and some replastering/redecoration - so nothing cheap then  !
Anything else will either go in the general savings pot or buy some shares directly rather than through a fund.
Otherwise on the savings front I need to rejig my investments as my funds just aren't diversified enough, so will spend time this weekend sorting that.Life is not a dress rehearsal.0 -

Hi savingforoz,
My boyfriend went on a plastering course at the local college a couple of hours a week (evenings) for a little while.
He has now replastered several rooms in our house, the course only cost £90 which is less than the price of having one room plastered. It works for us and our friends and family!! Just a thought - it depends how DIY orientated you are!!:D[0 -
It's a great thought, moneysavingwannabe, but I have absolutely zero DIY skills
and am also very time - poor! Believe me, the house will look much better if I get someone else to do it!

So far this month, I've saved:
£ 68.55 (left over from current account last month)
£ 59.13 (Selling goods on Ebay(more to come))
£150.00 (SAYE)
£ 20.00 (Tarot Reading (More Booked))
£ 4.48 (Div on Shares)
£650.00 (Regular saving)
£ 50.00 (Birthday Money)
£ 50.00 (Christmas Savings Fund 2007)
£ 7.00 (£1 Jar)
So I'm right on track this month. I also have 3 more readings booked and a few more items clocking up on Ebay. I should have a Quidco payment maturing soon too. Looks like I'm going to make my £3000 by April 6th target if I carry on like this.HOW MUCH CAN YOU SAVE?: OLYMPIC CHALLENGE 2008BRONZE 10% SILVER 25% GOLD 50% PLATINUM 75%'Don't Stop me now, I'm cooking on Gas!' - Peggy Ollerenshaw - Hi-De-Hi!0 -
