Hi
Could you remind me how this works?
Each of us here has different saving power based on lots of things, so is it fair to measure amounts saved as a percentage rather than the actual amount saved... if you get what I mean.0 -

Hi savingforoz,
My boyfriend went on a plastering course at the local college a couple of hours a week (evenings) for a little while.
He has now replastered several rooms in our house, the course only cost £90 which is less than the price of having one room plastered. It works for us and our friends and family!! Just a thought - it depends how DIY orientated you are!!:D
That is a great idea. I have been doing up a house over nearly 5 years. I hadn't thought of doing a course. I tend to end up paying someone if I can't do the job.0 -
Okay, have just discovered this thread, a little late I know
It's great to see so many other people that are saving too. I've already fulfilled one of my 2007 resolutions to set up standing order for savings and am aiming to save £500 per month towards my house deposit.Mortgage Free since January 2018!0 -

It has helped us alot and he would always be able to earn some money if he ever lost his job.
One of my female friends has just completed a plumbing course so she can do the basics but obviously not gas work. I think practical trades are becoming more expensive so every skill helps in DIY!
