I'm probably just being really thick, but what is the counter thing? If it saves me having to manually count them all out, I'd love to get one!

Its not that good lol. You push the coin in a slot and it knows what coin it is by the size, then jst adds it to the total.

When I worked as a programme seller I would coin £1s, 50ps and notes ranging from about £500-£3000+ so I am used to dealing with coins and cash.

Last August I opened an NS&I investment account at the Post Office and deposited £105-worth of silver coins in one go! The following week I deposited £25-worth of coppers! Needless to say the people in the queue behind me were less than impressed! :o

I actually think this too, a lot of HSBC branches (mainly in London though) have coin deposit machines, you just dumped all the money in and it counts it. The ones in my area don't have any (there are 2 in my town). I wrote in asking for one to be put in because it causes a nuisance. They have one for cash and cheques, but not for coins. They told me they won't be getting one, but thanks.

:rotfl: I always get stuck behind someone like that! A couple of years ago, I went to the bank and one woman was handing over about £50 in coppers.

That's pretty good though as the banks weigh the bags anyway rather than counting them all out. Technically if I put all of the 1ps (or whatever coin) into it, it'd tell me whether there is enough to fill a bag and so on?

Yep you can do it that way. I just shove all the money in then when I feel like it, tip it onto my bed, sort it by coin (10p, 5p or whatever) then bag them up.

I have about 30+ coin bags at home waiting to be used :rotfl:

In which case I probably shouldn't admit to having held up a fairly large queue of people just a couple of weeks earlier whilst I deposited £600-worth of £2 coins! :o
If I don't respond to your posts, it's probably because you're on my 'Ignore' list.

Its very similar to that, without the arrow buttons.
To be honest its not that great, you have to push the coins in which hurts your fingers after a while (when you get to about £30s worth, transferred from my tin!).
I have marked where the £50 is on the side (so how deep it is), and now I just keep the lid off and put coins in, so I know when I will have around £100.

I want to reach that before Easter holidays as then I can count the money up and bank it then.

  • Been applying for lots of summer jobs over the last few days! I finish college for the summer at the end of June, so I really want to go straight into a Job so I can add to my savings before I start college again in September!

I also have seen a weekend job in town, I am planning to apply for!

For a while now I have just been happy with the savings I have got, and though I have not dipped into them, I have not been adding either! But I have decided thats all about to change! I am going to try and save as much money as possible, and some of the following should save me a little aswell:

No longer getting the bus to college, I just have to get the earlier train in the morning, and then I can do the 20 mins walk and still arrive in plenty of time .. Should save me around £7 a week!

Going to take a drink with me, I always buy a £1.09 bottle of coke every day! £6 wasted, when I could easily take a drink with me from home!

I am planning to do some more things to save more :p but I think they will take me alot more time to think of lol.
