Share?! Speeeesh! Never! Its only £12, medium pizza and potato wedges, yummy. My gf said I am not allowed to so I won't hm.
I have put a stone on in a year from uni...I was aiming to put on weight so now my BMI is amazing, although fitness wise isn't! Nevermind.
Greggs.... steak bake jeez, yum yum yum. They don't operate a franchise business though, which would be awesome. However, a Dominos Franchise, amazing.0 -

Thanks for the warm welcome.JAMIEDODGER wrote: »welcome to the thread thriftylass:) Have you a target in mind?
Yes, my target is about 12 grand :T. No particular reason (although one might be in case we ever buy together and another one to finally have a wee cushion after being a broke student), I just made that number up based on what I already have and what I could save if I stick to my live on 4000ish a year budget (I'll join that challenge properly next year). Luckily I already paid my student loan off and don't have any other debt:D. So I joined here to make me stick to both challenges: save to make the 4000ish a year and vice versa try to live of 4000ish a year to saveBeen pretty good this year in terms of saving but I'm sure I can do better. I'm aiming for 5-600 pounds a month.
Gonna tackle the task now to read through the previous posts (over 2000!!!).DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -

I just skimmed through the previous posts, gosh there are some serious savers (earners)around. I wish I could save more than 50% of my income or 1000 a month like others. But after bills and even when I stick to a tight budget I could only ever manage 45% but that would be really tight. We'll see, secretly I'd like to exeed my goal

Hi
I would like to get in on the action. Though currently I'vea 0% Barclay card which I owe £1200 on. I am planning to pay the minimum (£30) each month and the rest of what I owe into a savings account, so I can earn myself some interest on it, then pay the remainder next November just before the 0% offer goes.:T
Anyway enough of that, I want to save £5k asap for half a deposit on a house. Then once I have achieved that I will be looking to have more saved for all the other fees and home improvements. I am planning to move out with OH early as possible next year. He has his half saved as he is really good with money and just wont spend it. Where as I am rubbish!:o I really really want to leave my parents, it just seems like a load of money and I often lose sight of the bigger picture. Any tips on how to keep on target and motivated?
I'll hunt through the ginormous thread too...

One tip is too also join us in the live on 4k a year challenge (read page 1 of part 4 for a quick intro, you don't necessarly need to live on 4k, I'll try 5k - it's excluding rent and water, council tax), there you get additional great support and tips on how to save money and keep motivated. I just joined them a month ago and learnt loads about budgeting etc. It's instantly addicitve (in a positive way) and doens't seem so hard anymore. Here's the link http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1188729&page=80. I use this thread and the 4k challenge to get my finances in order, live of less (but still comfortably) and save loads.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -
Best tip for staying motivated, and keeping to it is the put money into savings BEFORE anything else. The moment you are paid - pay it back to yourself!!!
And also, write everything down. Everything you spend, and everything you save. It'll help you see how much you're managing to save, and how much your savings are growing. In short, become a geek! You can have loads of fun with spreadsheets and graphs and anything else that'll make you excited every time you update it and see your balance increase a little bit! Sad, isn't it?
Also, just look at your expenditure. Shop around a bit more. Challenge yourself to avoid your money weaknesses (mine lately is junk food... eek, going to Nando's tomorrow, that's not really avoiding... but I try). When I first started saving, I'd promise myself one good quality bought lunch, instead of 18 McDonald's in the month - result, healthier and wealthier. I've slipped off the bandwagon... but I'm still within my food budget, so I'm okay...
In short - set yourself specific targets, and make yourself enjoy meeting them. (ie, not "to spend less", but "to spend less than £30 this month on food")Target Cash Net Worth: £25K by January 2012
