I try and buy things throughout the year. Already got hubby's DVD box set from Amazon when I was signed up to their free Prime trial, also got a £54 fur-real cat for my daughter for only £25 from toys-r-us online. And I'll be using my nectar points again for Christmas food, last year we had over £90 worth :j
Back to saving - spoke to Abbey and they said I could put the remaining ISA allowance in my Abbey ISA (not touched it this year as I opened one with Lloyds, then transferred to Icesave and we all know what happened there  ). So quite pleased I can continue with that. No other savings until payday, as my normal 14th of the month interest is "frozen".Mortgage: Was: £154,495 Oct 2039 Now: £82,340.34 May 2037Swagbucks ~ £155 (2024 ~ £395)Surveys ~ £161.29 (2024 ~ £280.14)Make £2025 in 2025 #5 ~ £964.62 ~ (2024 ~ £2,561.04)0 -
Same here purplevamp - I have £25k with IceSave and barely any other savings apart from a stooze pot, now with B&B.
Any savings from my wages will now have to start from scratch, this will be with FirstDirect for easy access.MFW #185

Its my opinion that a sensible xmas will lead to a strong first 6 months next year. All my mates seem to be paying for xmas as late as the following June!! no way im doing that! The Missus and I have said we will cut back on what we get eachother, but hoping to put an extra £100 away this month to get the 'xmas pressie pot' growing!Millionaire in Training

My KE payments worked!Though, I did also get an email today from ING to say all pending transfers would reach their destination by Friday.
I'm always really tight at Christmas.
My family and friends aren't religious at all, so I don't buy for friends (and they don't buy for me), and family I spend about £15-£20 each on my mum, dad, brother and sister - last minute purchases in the pre-Christmas sales - normally discounted booze/perfume/cosmetics. My bf and I don't spend on each other - just our quality time, but we're doing a Secret Santa with his family this year, so I'll have to buy two £10 presents. I buy a nice box of biscuits (M&S outlet store - in date, not broken, but still half price, and nicely wrapped) for two sets of aunts and uncles, and grandparents, and a bottle of wine for my neighbours, £5 on a Secret Santa for work (Harper's Bazaar for cheap but funny toys). No Christmas cards come from me, ever (I'm lazy) - apart from one to my nan, who gets grumpy if things aren't done properly - The Card Factory - less than £1. So all in all, Christmas costs me about £120 - or £10 a month into my Christmas pot
The parties and booze and other things associated with Christmas, I do not save for - but then, I don't feel the need to humiliate myself with alcohol at the work Christmas do, so it's cheap for me anyway.

I try to buy throughout the year for Christmas. Cards and paper are always bought in the January sales. I've managed to buy some lovely children's books discounted and will also use my Boots points for some gifts and Tesco ones on one of the deals for magazine subscriptions for gifts. I like Hawkins Bazaar too for stocking fillers. Finally I have lightspeed points to convert so will be getting my mother Mama Mia DVD for discounted price to go into the Greek themed hamper I am making for her. Including parties I hope to spend not more than £200.MFW 91 op 2014 £410/1000

Hi Lucy,
When did you transfer the money? I transferred some on Sunday and it still hasn't arrived yet. It was only a tenner but I'm wondering whether to just transfer the rest out now cos it's taking so long??!!
Anyone else had money transfer ok from KE?[0
