Congratulations! what a milestone to reach!
I am spending rather than saving at the moment, but in the middle of setting up a part time business... so fingers crossed that part time income will help overall in the future, if things work out. Fingers crossed0 -

Hi All,
Having looked at the threads, I think this is a great place for me to start.
Like yourselves, I am on a savings quest (I currently have 4,000 pounds in savings - sorry! I've lost the pound sign on my typwriter! lol). I currently have a building society savings account and a Cash ISA which I put 250 pounds into every month. I also do some freelance work aside from my full time job which boosts my income. Would like to get on the property ladder again but it seems to be a scary time to be doing that right now! I am concentrating on my liquid assets right now which I want to build on.
I work for a stockbrokers so always keep my ear to the ground for tips!
:j Any tips for me folks? I may have some for you! .....

Hello everyone
OK its about time i joined this thread. :rotfl:
Have around £5,000 in an A&L ISA and hope to max this out soon. So that means adding another£1,600 as i already had £3,000 from last years ISA.
I got engaged two weeks ago so my girlfriend and i are currently saving for a wedding. I would rather get married in Itlay, have a small do and put our money towards a house deposit but she wants to get married here in Ireland!
Anyway, im aiming to save around £800 per month. She is aiming to save around £450 per month.
Going to be hard work but we are determined!0 -

I got married last May and we had an initial budget of £8,000. In total we spent just over £6,500.
I looked at the Confetti website and worked out what I wanted to spend the money on. Then I divided this total by the months left to the wedding, opened up a high interest account and put this amount in every month. Whenever I got spare money that would go into this account. We got engaged in October 2005 and were married in May 2007. Apart from £2,000 from my parents and step-parents we saved this all ourselves. At the time we both were on low wages (I only worked 3 hours a week!!), but it's all in the budgeting and not getting carried away with the little things.
Don't get me wrong, we had a fantastic day and had 80 guests to a 3-course wedding breakfast in a 4* hotel. If I could I would do it all over again
