How much can you save?

savings are savings, whether its £50 a month or £500 it all counts.
i used to be able to save an awful lot a few years ago but my outgoings were a lot less than they are now. i don't like a life of luxury, its is just expensive to live.
so if you can put even £50 away each month your still doing well imo.:grouphug:

How's everyone getting on??
I'm doing OK, still feeding my regular savers to the tune of £1250 a month. However, I need to do a bit of reorganising this month as I have a three-month Halifax Fixed Rate Web Saver maturing this week, along with my Halifax Regular Saver - plus it's ISA time... so I need to decide where to stash my cash!

Saved around £600 in March, and tomorrow I may be able to save another £100 so very pleased. I have my bonus in this months pay, on the 25th, so I will have almost enough to max out a new ISA.0

This month has been a bit of a wash-out for me. Barely saved anything at all. I think in total I've saved about £200, but on the plus side I have trimmed my debts down by £350 this month. I know I should pay off my debts first then save but the debts left don't charge interest. Also what with Hubby not working atm all our spare money is going on rent and bills, until the housing benefit is sorted out. I HATE being on benefit (been there done that before). They want your life story then say "your husband earns too much per month"
. He's a student!!! I rang them up and told them they were looking at his wages from his last job - they even had his P45 as proof. "Oh, we'll look into it and get back to you". So it looks like another month on my p/t wages.

Hi There,
Ive just noticed this thread, and was wondering if I could join too?
ATM I have a joint account with DH, but, dont have anything of my own, and would really like to start my own savings. I wont be able to save anything until beginning of April (all monthly bills due out before then), but, I reckon I could save up to £250 per month myself.
Im afraid I dont have an ISA:eek:, but, that is going to get sorted, however, it wont be sorted until after April.
All this ISA stuff scares/confuses me, infact, banks scare me especially with the way things are now, im not sure if my money is going to be safe. Anyway, I will open an ISA, but, Im not sure which one is the best, I will need to look into that.
So, if its okay to join, let me know.

It isn't bad i suppose. But its variable, not sure if you can get fixed rated ISA's am sure you can

Yee haa... received over £400 in dividend payments today from shares I own for the company I work for, so around half of the payment via BACS and a couple of cheques through the post this morning. I knew the divi was good this year, but did not expect that much. Anyway, as soon as I can get to the bank, the cheques are going in, I've already transferred the BACS payments.0
