Suze, are you going to remain an MSE faithful when you emigrate? Are you off to Oz or NZ or somewhere like that?0

I'm off to Canada, where things aren't going to be much cheaper (if at all) so I'll need all the moneysaving tips I can get

Cheers!
Don't be despondent - savings are meant to be spent at some stage and it's not like you'll have nothing to show for it. With any luck you'll get loads more back when you sell the house too
Defo hang out here and let us know how you get on!

Think the next one is the big £1000 and I'm not sure when I'll reach it - hopefully before the new year!Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Hi Suze
Well my next milestone would have been £40K but, very soon, next month we are hearing the pitta patta of little feet, so some of our savings will go towards feeding the joint account for daily living and to keep my wife at home for as long as possible rather than having to go back to work. That aside, the current available savings totals around £37K, so our ambition during the next couple of years is to keep the savings at the very least maintained at over £30K, I cannot foresee that accumulation of funds will happen, only maintainance of the £30K level. But I am happy with that because when my wife does start to work again in 2 or 3 years time we will be able to pick up the savings batten again and really get some money put away.
The overall goal at the end of the day is to pay off the mortgage.0 -
