Moved into my new flat this month so thats 20k gone from my savings :(

But I still plod along saving 25% of my wage each month, the same as every month since I started work! Hopefully I will be a very rich person in 20 years time but we will have to see. Next target is the 3600 allowance for my cash isa starting next April.

On the good side, my shares have done well this month adding about £50 :)

I hate to moan but I have had to turn down over 1K worth of freelance work as I am having childcare issues :( It feels like I am never going to save up my deposit at this rate!

    Hi everyone!

I have an e-savings account with Barclays, and I'm hoping to get £3,000 in there by the end of August 2008, which means saving £250 a month.

As my sig says, the money will go towards 'living costs' in my final year of university next year - so I don't have to get another loan. £3,000 is nothing compared to most of the people on this thread - but to me its a huge amount. I'm 20yrs old, and my salary is £11,000. So effectively, after tax, I'm trying to save a third of my income.

This is proving to be quite easy so far - I don't have a mortage or kids, and I share a house with 6 others, so rent and bills are cheap. However, we'll see what happens shall we!

Anyway - have a nice weekend everyone!
  • I've had a good month this month :j

Put the last £450 into my ISA, started a B&B esaver as i'm saving seperately for my Car costs as they all fall in one month, and also i'm doing an open uni course, so i'm spreading the cost by saving up before hand for it!

I've got £100 quidco cashback which is due in a day or two from my car insurance which is very nice :D

My target for this year is to save £6500 and i've saved £5673.46 so I only need to find £826.54. I've had a very good months work wise so have earnt a lot but that is slowing down a bit now, so i'm not sure i'm going to make it, but i'm determined to do it... somehow!
  • I've just written the last cheque for my credit card so now that's clear I should be able to save an extra £100 a month :j

I'm still waiting for confirmation of my Sainsbury's Internet Saver (should give them a ring tonight). Now I need to start saving for my car insurance...

    Hi all

Good to see everyone is still saving - although it is hard with Christmas around the corner. I envisage that January will be a bit lean for me as the credit card bills come!

Anyway, I haven't posted much lately as there's been nothing special going on, just been feeding my Regular Savers. However, I have just reached a new milestone - I now have £70000 in the bank :D (well, £71810 to be precise, but I've passed £70k)!

So I'm happy about that, but frustrated that I can only save half my gross salary each year. I wanted to get to £100k before I left the country (in spring 2009) and have been thinking about ways to make extra money... none of them seem very lucrative though!

That is brilliant Suzy! Have you got equity in your house in addition to this? Your move is going to be well funded by your efforts :)

    Thanks!

Nope, I'm not able to get on the property ladder unfortunately. If I'd been born four years earlier I'd have been alright though!
