Hi,
Thanks slowlyfading, everything ok so far! How are your savings going?
The kitchen place have just told us they charge 2% for cc payments which I'm not too happy about but I suppose it is less than a loan etc. At least cc is 0% anyone know a way round the cc charge??
Am thinking of stoozing - think that's the right term for it??
Paying for whatever we can on 0% cc for 15 mths putting money into savings each month paying off the minimum each month and pocketing the interest and paying off lump sum before the end of the term.
Does this seem like a good idea??:money: ??

Hi
Just discovered the joys of Quidco. I have known about it for a good while but never ventured there. I am going to deem the cashback at Quidco as a Christmas 2008 savings account (I already have Xmas 07 sewn up). Just insured my car and got cashback of £95. Not a bad start eh!0 -
Hi everyone,
How are you all doing this month?
Pay day for me today and it's my last pay in this job so I got an extra £500 as I had 12.5 holiday days that I hadn't taken which I got the money for. So this month I was able to put just over £1000 into my savings. Really chuffed.
Keep up the good work everyone!0 -
Yep.. doing ok. Just had a one off bonus at work of an extra £750. Thought my salary increase would have been applied to this months pay, but no. Hopefully in next months.
Preparing for the arrival of a little one, so maybe only get to save this little extra money for a short while. Using this thread as motivation we have significant sums of money to pull on though when it becomes necessary. Thanks to the thread and all those here!0 -

* Savings Update - October 2007 *
Horrible month for me as predicted. Despite earning a bit more than usual in wages i still managed to SPEND £200 more than i earned this month, this is mainly due to the fact I was paying off the £600 for my new computer off my credit card (which does have cashback points) and also spending £300 on a weekend visit to see my dad as well as the usual running costs for leisure, food, mobile phone contract and broadband etc, I cant just keep on saving forever though, got to spend something at sometime, Next month should be back to normal though.
The Percentage has (sadly) been updated.Had £80,000 in Savings - All GONE!!! BYE BYE:A Single, 27, Aspie, Gooner :A0 -
I'm so close to £800 its annoying! I know that's not much, but it is for me

Right, Finally sorted out some of my outgoings. Firstly stopped my subscription to lovefilm for the time being. (too busy to watch films anyway). Saving of £15 a month. Stoped my subscription to creditexpert.co.uk saving £6.99 a month.
Been angry with O2 as i used to be on a monthly contract of £7 line rental with a 400 message bolt on for £13. So cost me around £20 a month. Looked the other day and i seem to be on a completely different package costing nearly £40. So i've sent them a couple of emails ect, but they keep avoiding an answer as to why this changed.
Anyways, on to my saving plans. at a bare minimum i want to save at least £300 a month. It will be going into my premium bonds until i reach the £3k mark, then i'm not sure what to do then. Maybe put it in my first direct savings account which is something like 8% aer.
Currently have £1300 saved and just added £550 this month as i was paid a little moreNot sure where to set my target, decided to save for a deposit on a house.

Hi everyone
Id like to join this forum please
I've been reading it for quite sometime now as it's a great resource of tips on how to save and gives a great insight in to how other people manage their finances - all great info!!!
Here's my situation.
I'm 26, debt free and currently own my own flat - which I'm in the process of selling. I should hopefully make a good £25,000 profit for a deposit for my next property.
Essentially I'm not saving to build a deposit for a house; as I'm already on the property ladder and have no worries about that, i'm saving to get a good grounding for my retirement and when my partner and I decide to have kids money shouldn't be too tight. Also of course for financial security etc.
I have the following accounts (I'm sure they're very competitive rates - could someone confirm?)
Alliance and Leicester
Premier Direct Current account (6.5% up to £2500) - £200.00
Premier Plus Saver (5.25%) - £1.00 (balance can't go below £1)
Premier Direct Saver (6.3%) - £4663.49
Other
NS&I Direct ISA (6.3%) - £3000.00
YBS Regular Saver (7.1%) - £1000.00
I generally try and save at least £750.00 to £800.00 a month with money left over for entertainment. I think I'm doing quite well for someone at my age, however I don't have a pension as the company I work for doesn't offer one.
My plans for the remainder of the year is to get my savings over the £10,000 mark. Also would like to try and save £10,000 for the year ahead.
Hope everyone is doing well especially with Christmas almost upon us!0
