Cameron has absolutely checkmated Boris in his resignation speech, where he changed his stance from invoking Article 50 the morning after the referendum, if that's the way it went, to saying it was for the next PM to decide, turning the leadership election basically into a single question of 'If you are elected, will you invoke Article 50?' If Boris doesn't stand for PM, his career is over. If Boris wins and doesn't invoke Article 50, his career is over. If Boris wins and does invoke Article 50, he's going to be Prime Minister during several years of absolute political mayhem.

I suspect he's uncorked a large bottle of gin and is considering his options, personally! His best hope is to stand for leader and lose, but I think that was probably his game plan when he joined the Leave campaign and that didn't work out so well for him...

I read about this yesterday and it was the only thing that's made me feel more positive about the future :rotfl:

A couple of days of admin, inspired by Tilly :). In addition to standard stuff:
    • BTL insurance renewed, cheaper and hopefully with cashback
    • Gone over savings accounts. TSB reg sav matured yesterday, couldn't renew it till it had matured, rate dropped to around 1% on Thursday .
    • Opened new instant access account with RCI to act as feeder for others.
    • Opened NWide 5% current account.
    • Updated spreadsheets etc. to take account of the above.
    • Set up new budget spreadsheet for Spain, back to recording every penny :o.
    • Need to think about increasing money in P2P. I've given notice on an Al Rayan account so will probably use that (around £830).
    • Checked PB's - nada :(.
Next up - hang the washing out :D.

Still not dressed and will probably stay that way until I get dressed to go out tonight :rotfl:. Though I do want a new plastic 'dressing up box' as we have too much stuff now to fit in our existing one :D. Too hot to walk to closest shop I think - will assess when I hang washing out.

Hot? I've forgotten what that's like!

Good financial admin. Our TSB Regular savers mature in August, but we won't be opening another, due to the interest rate drops.

General plan is to open a SIPP each and put £2880 in. Hopefully the markets will be a bit more stable next month

Just catching GG - didn't have as much to read as I thought I would.

You seem to be having loads of fun and that's the main thing.

Fab news about the BTL sale - hope it's all going through smoothly.

Ordered some stuff from Debenhams sale (PJ's, nightie and picture frame, either don't like the quality out here or do like the quality but not the prices!). Free delivery over €50, think I spent €50.60 :rotfl:. Arrived today, unpacked, all suitable fortunately and all packaging in bag for recycling. So nice to not have to save plastic bags and bubble wrap for ebay sales @ 75p profit a go :D.

Managed to lose a whole 0.5lbs this week, probably in sweat shed during step routine on newly wired up wii fit this morning :rotfl:. The balance board is not working properly so have bid on one on ebay, if I don't get that will BIN. Back in UK next week so can take back in case :T, much, much cheaper than trying to source out here.

Speaking of ebay, I keep getting complimented on the cotton dresses I bought last year when I thought I was going to ME. Must try and get some more if only to annoy people with my bargainous finds :D.

We had rain earlier . It had stopped by the time I brought the cushions in :rotfl:. The weather has been glorious - hot but not crazy like it was last summer and cooling down beautifully at night - last year it stayed at over 30 degrees . That said, bedroom was still warm - hottest room in the house - and air con, the only unit we had, was broken. Survived with two fans but noisy. Air con now fixed and lovely to have a cold blast to drop the temperature :T.

Had a hectic few days, well nights really*. Flamenco show, home after 1, ex-village fiesta, home at 4.30 :o and out with friend, home after 3. Because of that, or por eso as they say out here (seems to be used in every sentence on the radio!), I've had a lazy day including a few hours on the beach. Height of summer but no-one within ten yards, what a difference to the UK! It wasn't windy but seas were quite rough and I was fairly close so lovely cooling spray the whole time :T.

Looking forward to seeing Mr GG in a few days but rail tickets for four long journeys have cost over £200 . Mr GG suggested hiring a car but that was even dearer, anyway they drive on the wrong side of the road :D. Need to start sorting clothes out and get a few bits and pieces friends have asked me to bring.

Just did a state pension forecast, you could actually see your contributions record and I have a full one so enough contributions for full pension if and when the time comes :rotfl:. I knew I should have had enough but wasn't expecting the years I didn't work, or did minimal work, when children were young, to have been automatically credited :T. Now just need to crack on with sorting out residency, sooner rather than later as rather worried about some of the things David Davis is saying _pale_.

Feeling really happy with life except my inability to a) keep fuschias alive and b) lose weight. Though see * above, it's my own fault :rotfl:.

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: You go, Gally, sounds like you're having a ball.

Train fares - there's a new website, train split, something like that? It searches automatically for the split tickets that Martin talks about.

Have a great time over here too :D

    Hi Gally,

Glad you are still enjoying Spain. May I ask a question, as you will probably know. What are the tax implications in terms of income coming from the UK if you become Spanish residents? Are you able to nominate a country where your income and tax are dealt with? Do you now have to "declare" everything in Spain if you become a resident?

You are approx. 5 years ahead of us, and I am interested in this after Brexit.

    Thanks
