Brilliant news selling BTL and I am glad the sun is shining brightly in Spain. I love the temperature in May and September hot enough for me and the sand doesn't burn your feet! Enjoy the views on the beach!! xx

have loved reading your diary.. although I am a relative newcomer, tales from Spain are fab.

I was speaking to a new colleague who is from Cordoba just on Friday , He was telling me the Mezqutia dates back to almost prehistoric times ;) and has had several religions at its helm... will look forward to visiting it in the future :D

Thanks MFD. The Mezquita is stunning and the city is very pretty - you would love it I'm sure.

More mundane matters today - got a man coming about a drains issue that wasn't highlighted when we bought the house .

So, it appears we have a septic tank................. which doesn't appear to have been emptied in years as it was cemented shut :think:_pale_:huh::undecided:cry::shocked:. We need to check exactly what is connected to it so will need to open it and flush toilets, run taps etc. Which is a bit :eek: and will no doubt make us go _pale_. Will leave it till Monday methinks ;).

Oh dear, our house appears to have been designated the official stopover house for nights/afternoons on the playa :rotfl:. Off out with friends this afternoon for belated birthday celebrations then back to ours for the evening, put-up beds and I'm doing sausage and egg baps for brekkie. Sounds like lots of debauchery - between the seven of us we have a combined age of 410+ years so you can imagine how rocking it will be , I'll be taking bets on who nods off first and if I say that Mr GG won't be favourite then that indicates how wild we all are :rotfl:. And Articulate may be involved :T.

Pretty hectic few weeks coming up as DD and DS are out consecutively (DS coming out on flight DD goes back on!), the biggest local event of the year: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moros_y_cristianos and various parties and musical events. And I'll need to find time in amongst that to get Sevvie the Septic Tank emptied .

Hope the sun shines for you over the Bank Holiday, our forecast is three days of :):):) with a day of  (ie. 34 degrees!) in the middle :D.

You may be surprised - my septic tank had its three-yearly desludge on Wednesday and there was little to no smell when we took the lid off. If it's digesting properly, it shouldn't pong too much. If you're going to have it desludged, don't power-wash it out afterwards, you need some bacteria in it to start it off again.

  • We had a septic tank that never needed emptying as everything broke down by bacterial action and eventually went into rainwater drains. So make sure what type of tank it is
The guy who dealt with ours was old and well versed in the type we had, dont go getting modern style drain jet type people as they dont understand how gentle they have to be, also dont use bleach as that kills the bacteria
    Good luck
