Absolutely, Madrid is wonderful - great time of year to be out and about there too.

    Snakes! Oh boy ...

  • Oooh, not keen on the sound of the snakes! I came across a spider the length of my thumb (when legs were included) while I was stripping out panelling yesterday, but given that it didn't move a millimetre for 20 minutes while I made banging noises underneath it, I'm hoping it was dead. A young golden eagle arrived in the village yesterday, lovely to see it, but really not the best time for it to turn up, given everyone started lambing last week!

Madrid is fabulous, loving it so much, even though Mr GG has caught my cold 😕

I'd like to go to Madrid, but it's a bit difficult to get there on a cruise ship!

I love the *whole* of Spain in the "off" season, its the right season for me! On the Madrid streets, I remember fountains, lots of interesting fountains, and lots of unusual architecture.

Sorry about the cold though - hope you can both make the most of the visit.

Fab night tonight, we'd tried and failed to get tickets for last night and tonight's football matches. Decided to walk down to Athletico Madrid's ground anyway - fab atmosphere and ended up watching match in local bar full of supporters. They won and have gone through to semi-final of Champions League (as did Real Madrid last night) - very tense though! They had a penalty towards the end and someone outside having a ciggie gave us the heads up they'd scored as you could hear the crowd - as always a slight delay on TV. Well done Athletico :T:T:T.

  • Lovely photos. I was in Spain last week and we had freakily super weather.
Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D
