Worked at house Sat as had got date wrong for Matanza - it's next Sunday :o.

Dishwasher and new hob bought and delivered, Spanish may be very slow and uncustomer focused in some areas (e.g. wait at the counter in the bank while assistant sends messages on phone) but delivery wise they are wonderful. Bought items at 13.30, delivered at 18.30 :T. Being fitted today by my ManWhoDoes (MWD)- the delivery men would have connected dishwasher if fittings already there, but expecting them to remove cupboard, relocate water heater and then install fittings was probably pushing it a bit :D.

Hob is first unexpected-but-not-really-surprising spend. The washing machine, fridge freezer and tumbledrier-with-no-internal-light-:( all work so at least it's the cheapest one. Mucho deliberation over whether to get gas or electric - wanted gas but means sacrificing a whole cupboard for gas bottle - and, if electric, whether ordinary or induction. Also whether stainless steel or black glass. Really wanted black glass induction but settled for stainless steel gas :rotfl: - much cheaper and as we are likely to replace kitchen next year I didn't want to make expensive long-term decisions. Was difficult to find four rings with auto ignition - lots of Spanish hobs only have three to allow for large paella-type dishes. Dishwasher also stainless steel but not gas :D.

Water heater in kitchen may be next casualty - it is dripping and may be terminally ill - MWD will advise once he takes out to relocate. Not a great system, we need hot water heaters with tanks as no mains gas so instant heaters too expensive to run off leccy. Not sure how long it will take, and how many tanks, for me to have a bath .

Managed to fall down four steps on Friday, landed on my pride and have massive bruise .

Time off for good behaviour yesterday, local footie in morning (:D - :(), then back to local bar - owners two eldest sons play in the team - free plates of paella and watched the end of the Davis Cup match game-set-match-smiley-emoticon.gif - great stuff, we had the Spanish cheering alongside us (only 'cos they wanted it finished quickly so they could have the Real Madrid game on ;)). So, Real Madrid, then Premier League and then home - in bed by 10 again for third night running. Rock'n'roll retirement :rotfl:.

Woman's Group meeting this morning then down to house to meet MWD. Hoping that the end of the day will see a big difference in the place as I'll be grouping the furniture I want rid of together in one place, so it will open the place up more.

Have been saying on the KM thread how there have been loads of Justin Case and Kiefer Best items which have been discarded. I am using Chuck Itnow to help me get rid of stuff. Annoyingly, the pine bookcase has at least two shelves missing which I was sure Justin Case would have kept but it seems Chuck Itnow must have paid the previous owners a visit!

Crikey, this has been a bit long and rambling. Mainly because I'm putting off sweeping the floor :D.

Just opened NWide Reg Saver @ 5% :D. Will drip feed it from Santander @ 3%. A bit of hassle for an extra 2%, will only be about £60 more pre-tax - but it's the thought that counts :rotfl:.

Tiring day at new house but finally the musty smell is almost gone :T. Ditched mattress from one room - then looked carefully at base and measured it - oops, not quite as long or wide as a normal double. Will need to be replaced with full sized or any tall visitors will be sleeping with feet dangling over the edge :rotfl:.

    Good things:
    - Dishwasher installed and working :T
    - Hot water heater in kitchen successfully descaled and relocated, on its side, in sink cupboard - will be room for a narrow shelf :T
    - Hob installed and working, gas bottle can be shoved to back of cupboard to allow for a narrow shelf in front :T
    - Musty smell almost gone (should disappear tomorrow as MWD is shampooing sofas and rugs) :T
    - Blocked toilet () made gurgling noise and unblocked itself :T
    - Cleaner windows make house brighter (and who'd have thought mossie blinds could get so dirty ) :T
    - Large, very basic looking, chest of drawers (donated to MWD's workroom) removed from bed 2 wardrobe and large shelf cut down to size, now have around 5' of floor space as opposed to 2'. Room for Dylan the Dyson, Vanda the Vax floor mop and Mr GG's two sets of golf clubs :T

    Not So Good Things:
    - Kitchen tap dead :(
    - Second hot water heater dead :(
    - Another double bed to buy :(
    - Don't tell KC but lots of black mould above (and behind) kitchen cupboards. Have decided as we can't easily see it then obviously it is not there :(

I heard you, you know! You might as well have sent me a pm :rotfl::D when you whisper about mould, it just zings straight to me :p Luckily for you, I'm fighting my own cupboard-mould, so I won't brag about the state of my porch :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Stayed up very late for me - have been in bed by 10 every other night since we got new house :o. Putting off going to bed to delay the pleasure of getting in to freshly washed sheets :D.

In other news, slight excitement at house, five DEAR Italian ornaments, similar style to this. Yuk, not my taste but labels which go with them show one was priced at £125 . Hmmm, turns out may get a few pounds if I'm lucky. Suspect they will be packed away till the market fails to rise then thrown away :rotfl:. Maybe I could persuade Alex to invest as he likes 'stuff' ;).

My mum had a couple of those - can't say they're my taste either.

You know what MK would say - sell or donate now - don't hang on for Justin Case ;)

    :(

I've only just, in the last few weeks, switched my Nationwide current account to M&S Bank, to take advantage of their regular saver, then Nationwide comes along with this new reg saver.

That was bad timing on my part!

Sounds all go and very exciting, well done for getting stuck into it so quickly (and in 30' heat although not muchos sympathy on that from here ;)). Kitchen replacement comment suggests there will be more big projects soon! Delivery and MWD sound great - I kept getting confused reading this thinking that MWC's trip isn't surely for a few months yet …
And finally hope you went for a 3 ring to cook lots of huge paella dishes …

Please try and disguise your shock but here's a serious MFW question. I've been pondering the same recently in my shuffling … but if Reg Saver doesn't the rate even out to 2.5% ('cos of drip feeding over the year), so what is the advantage of moving from 123? Sorry if I'm being dimmer even than usual ...

I hope you IRONED the sheets once they were dry? Well actually I don't, I hope you didn't … but don't tell Tilly if that's the case ;)

On this note, hope your new TD (without internal light) is not being used too much and it's all about hanging in the breeze out there? (the sheets, not you that is :rotfl:)

Do NOT let Justin Case and Dee Layagain interfere with your figurines … you've done so brilliantly, don't slip now …

Hope the pride and bruises are better:)
