Pig's trotter is a great source of gelatin, bunging one in (c. 50p from the Chinese supermarket) is just about the cheapest way to make a decent stock ever.
  • Hey Gally. You been pruning and trimming again?

The only thing I know about pigs trotters is that they are popular in Panama

Couldn't get hold of one (well, didn't try too hard but did go to two shops :)), left out as I've made recipe before without it. Did find I suppose the Spanish equivalent of a ham hock - the remnants of a Serrano ham, on the bone, €1.85 :T. Made gorgeous stock for what was going to be pea soup but will now be pea and ham soup :D. Not too much meat to save, probably because of the amount of quality control carried out :rotfl:. When we moveand have a little chest freezer I will stock up on trotters and Serrano bones when I see them.

Yesterday I couldn't find any crystallised ginger so I used Mr Google and made some.

Today I have been doing quality control.

Tomorrow I may have to make some more :o.

So, summoned up energy to download photos - can't find cable :rotfl:.

    Casa Gally update:
    - Painter all sorted, much cheaper than other quotes (bit concerned he's underestimated time required ) and he's also taking out the horrible dark plywood wardrobe doors and installing modern ones - still comes in at less than other painting quotes :T.
    - Which is just as well........ Spanish electrician came round tonight with lovely English wife to see what we wanted doing. Mucho sharp intake of breath and concerned face (though wife says he does that when asked to choose between chicken and beef :rotfl:). To cut a long story short:
    • All electricity is safe, as we had been told :)
    • All the electric heaters work :)
    • Outside lights we couldn't find a light switch for have burnt out - replacing fittings is easy then it will be obvious which switch works them :rotfl:
    • Having all the electric heaters on at the same time as anything powerful (e.g. a 60w bulb :rotfl:) could well blow the power :(
    • Having the oven and two heaters on could do the same :(
    • As could the two new electric towel rails :(
    • At least one tile will need replacing in bathroom - we have tons :)
    • The 'would like to have' extra sockets are all 'si, vale, vale' (ok) :)
    • The 'really need these to make the house work for us' sockets caused much consternation :(
    • Fuse box does not have any spare circuits so not easily fixed :(
    • All work will cause 'mucho, mucho polvo' (dust) - least of our worries :rotfl:.
So, we've agreed on a new fuse box, big enough to cope with all possible requirements and then some (we have 10 circuits at present, electrician has 40+, we'll be closer to his size ). Best to get it done now, and get it done properly :T. We haven't started thinking about aircon yet (only one unit and we can't get that working) - but the unit for main room will be more like an industrial one I think - whole room is over 40m2 . Electrician and his wife have decided we're having spotlights on the main ceiling, so that's settled then :rotfl:.

Electrician starting 2nd Jan, painter on 7th, what could possibly go wrong :rotfl:.
