Hope it all goes well, GG - I'm sure it will, and that you'll get lots of lovely compliments, though you're such a livewire people will probably have been half expecting something unexpected :):):)

Were your colleagues shocked and horrified at your impending departure?

Pleased for me - only one person said 'I knew it'. As for what was said - I appear to have successfully winged it for 15 years :D. What was annoying was talking to a colleague about how we thought the dept should be reorganised - she thought I'd be perfect for our new role and I agreed :rotfl:.

So, in Goldiegirl tradition - after today:
39 workdays :T(actually 39.5 so I will take a 1/2 day flexi and have a random day off).
Will also aim to take 12 & 13 out of the car tomorrow this week :D.
Done and in confidential waste :).

1 item sold 23/365, 1 bag of stuff to CS 24/365 and 1 jewellery box in bin 25/365.

£2.64 to go into savings :).

    Yay!! You told 'em .....:)
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!
  • Well done, I hope the notice period goes well. I find it very strange to be planning and organising when I know I won't be there to see it through. Quite liberating though! Enjoy.
Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D

Yes, I found it weird to be preparing things that I wouldn't be there to finish. But certainly liberating

Oh Gally isn't it great when everyone knows you are going and you only have a few weeks to go, really, really good news.

I don't trust Osborne either and think he could easily change the civil service pension rules which is making me think I will take it before the election, financially I am lucky it won't really effect my figures hugely as once you take into account the pension going up with inflation it will balance out pretty much versus what I will lose. I have spent hours with a calculator whilst I have been ill - it was enlightening even the accountant felt I was making the correct move.

One problem I have Toots is I get no tax allowance when in the ME and no-one (including tax advisor confused-shrug-smiley-emoticon.gif) knows if I can take 25% tax free (not for over 18 months anyway as I am too young :rotfl:). Will need to ask HMRC. Also what do I do with it? I can't have an ISA and can only pay £2,880 into a new pension each year. Will also need to research options for investing in ME - I've seen one bank offering some funds/bonds available in UK but with double the costs - though still better than putting in an ordinary shares/fund account in UK and pay tax on profits.

    Like I said, confused-shrug-smiley-emoticon.gif.

    Suggestions Ed? :rotfl:
