You'll be fine, gallygirl.

I don't really have a clue what you're talking about ... but will you not get your UK tax allowance as you're not going to become a citizen of the Middle East, are you? Sorry if this is completely wrong but I know nothing about living abroad.2018 totals:
Savings £11,200
Mortgage Overpayments £5,5000 -
No idea GG, the furthest abroad I've worked is London :rotfl:
One question - do you need the lump sum? How long are you staying in the ME.
Investing abroad I will look into, see if anything crops up.0 -
Alex no, you don't get a tax allowance as an ex-pat unless it's a country we have an arrangement with (mainly Europe or countries we used to "own";).)
Ed I won't need the lump sum straightaway and could wait till we return to Europe to take it - but I'm worried about them moving the goalposts just when I'm ready to take it, hence wondering if I should take asap. I'll have two pension pots which are of approx the same value - I was going to amalgamate but I've decided to keep them separate so I can in effect take 25% of each when it suits me. As an expat I can also contribute £2,880 for 5 years and have it made up to £3,600. I'll probably open a 3rd for that as I wouldn't be able to contribute more to the fund once I've taken the 25%. So, extra columns on spreadsheet

In other exciting news, 2 further ebay sales, 26 & 27/365.
I need to take my favourite boots to get repaired (Tilly - the ones you stroked for me
but I don't have time to take to your cobblers) as the heel caught in the door as I was closing it and is coming away from the upper . I will miss them while they are in the cobblers
They will either be worn on the plane when I finally go or get packed in the 'I'm going to Spain via the ME' bags
. Actually, just realised I need a 'I will be going to Spain eventually but best keep me fairly accessible for winter trips back to the UK' bag as well . A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

I'm not which of the pension planning or all the packing bags sounds most stressful
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!0 -

I'm just wondering if there's anyway you can remain a UK resident on paper?
Afraid I can't help with the pension, it's all too confusing for me and I don't personally have one ... yes, I really am rather screwed should my parents actually decide to leave everything to the dogs home.

Alex that would be immoral :eek::eek::eek: (and I might get caught :rotfl:). I need to do it correctly as there are legal implications for the btls if anyone needs an eviction order etc.I'm just wondering if there's anyway you can remain a UK resident on paper?
Just opened an M&S bank account to get the reg saver at 6% and £100 gift card. That's 40 minutes out of my life I'm never getting back

Currently marinating. My late friend liked tofu. Neither wonder she was so strange

Well said! Totally agreeI'm not which of the pension planning or all the packing bags sounds most stressful

Ooh yes, something that big, you need to be sure you're legal. I don't think Alex was suggesting otherwise, perhaps thats just you, GGAlex that would be immoral :eek::eek::eek: (and I might get caught :rotfl:). yeah, its ... tofu. Freeze, marinate and fry ... its easy to get it out of a packet, but as a vegetarian I don't understand why people don't usually just eat soya beans? Colour me confusedQuick teabreak and looked at menu plan for tonight _pale_.

?
25% of £100 and 25% of £200 is the same as 25% of £300 - why not merge?0
