I had to trawl through your last few pages to find out what the exciting news was!!! Cannot believe it. Well done, how fab.

A great load of adventures to be had I am sure. Congratulations on your early retirement xx

Another bag of clothes in car for CS so 19/365.

Loads of business cards and loads of redundant loyalty cards decluttered, 20/365. No. 19 has made it out of car but 12 & 13 still there :D.

Doubt it dear, what I'm selling would fall off you :(.

And will remain so all weekend :rotfl:.

Have come up with a cunning plan:
    • Get estate agent out to take pics for rental (though not putting up just yet). Then I can start 'deconstructing' the house room by room:
    • Pictures off walls. Clean pictures :o, either put in 'pack & ship' pile (see below) or 'charity shop'.
    • Fill in holes in walls and rub down.
    • Wash walls where necessary :o.
    • Touch up paint - luckily I have at least a little of every colour.
    • Drawer by drawer, wardrobe by wardrobe, go through all items. All to go in one of the following piles or easily identified as:
    1. Bin
    2. Charity shop
    3. Ebay
    4. Important - take in hand luggage (e.g. card readers)
    5. Important but can go in suitcase
    6. Clothes, shoes etc which will be needed on arrival - to go in suitcase
    7. Household items - important, to go in '1st wave' which goes with us or shortly after, 1 cubic metre in total
    8. Bigger items or not as urgently needed clothing & footwear - to be shipped
    9. 'I am actually going to Spain but taking the via ME route' - items to be shipped with above but packed and labelled separately, e.g. magnetic knife rack, winter clothes, curtains to be made into Roman blinds etc.
    Simples :T.

Mr GG off again in a few weeks for yet to be determined period of time to be followed (probably) by permanent move in yet to be determined period of time followed by me in yet to be determined period of time. So, all sorted :rotfl:.

When I first read I did think you had decluttered a friend. From further posts I am relieved it was just her waste!

It's all sounding exciting GG :)

I am also trying to gradually declutter the house before we move out. Difference is I am only going as far as the in-laws and will eventually return to live in a building site for the foreseeable future. It's just not as exciting as the middle east!!

And I'm getting no help from my OH who seems to be on a reclutter mission. I might get him to do one of Ed's personality tests... :rotfl:

Well, that's 2 hours and a good few million brain cells I'll never get back :rotfl:.

Just been doing financial modelling on retirement income using worst case scenarios and various inflation/growth/interest rates, plus liquidising btl's at various points. To cut a very long story short, as long as I peg it by 100 I'll be ok. After that is anyone's guess :D. This is based on taking 25% from pension pots at 62, then a 5% annual drawdown (which is higher than the normal 4% used). In reality, I'm likely to withdraw up to the tax free amount asap if I can find somewhere to put it that I'm happy with as I don't trust Osborne et al not to change the rules again :(. But didn't know how to factor that in :o.

Now to declutter excess hair etc. :)

  • Yes I think you are right. I aim to get out as much as I can tax free as soon as I can and as quickly as I can without having to pay tax. There is a documentary tomorrow night at eight being heavily trailed. Looks interesting.
Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D
  • Decluttering is quite therapeutic . I have done my clothes, doing a bit each day. Obviously between watching huth and jezzer.
