enjoy your tea - I've just had a coffee and a bit of chocolate, so that's me done for the night!

Hope you have a good day tomorrow and that you can get your laptop up and running finally!

I have googled & am pleased to discover you're just north of Brighton - which is also an hour away. Exactly one hour from my garage to the sea front ... and about an hour to just get out of Brighton on the way home again ;).

It's an easy journey so something to organise later on in the year :D.

Now I need to type in the network security key, whatever that is. Honestly, I lose the will to live going through this stuff, this is *exactly* why (well, part of why) I've taken so long to set the bleeping thing up. I hate it!

I'll phone Virgin on Monday to get this key. They'll refuse to give it to me, of course, and then we'll be on to the next merrygoround.

A few people have replied to this, but it probably is the WEP key. It is set up when you first set a router up. If you don't have a note of it, you can get into it and reset it by using an ethernet cable.

I watched the old Red Dwarf re-runs on Dave, actually found some episodes I'd missed.

Can I come and cry on your shoulder while you tell me how to do this, if I can't find the number on the back of the router? I certainly don't have a note of it.

Fantastic! I love Craig Charles, all of them really. I met Danny John Jules briefly at a convention, in the cafe, he was desperate to just relax and read his newspaper, but was trying to be polite at the same time. I told him he's allowed to have a life and read the paper on a Sunday morning just like anyone else :o

Hiya! I'm good - you're definitely not doing the sucking eggs thing - have you *seen* how many posts I've made about the dratted router :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Oh I remember you buying that! Well, Taxi, you've had just a few other things going on, you know? Now that spring is round the corner, maybe you can use your trips out to play with the camera? EH set up a weekly photography challenge, that Pippi joined in, and she takes some great pix anyway of the chickens and the scenery, on her blog (click her name, go to her home page).

Here, the bed is stripped and airing, as Lula mentioned at hers the other day, washing machine is on, dishywishy2 is emptied, integral smoke alarm is finally installed and charging, I have an hour before I leave the house..... I don't think I have time to struggle with the router, I'm pleased with what I've done, I might try to start on my sister's stuff and see if she wants a new ebay account or using an old one.

Have a good day all :j

    Morning all,

I've been sat at the back of the class wondering what on earth a wep key was :o just re read cheris post & realised it's the long bar codey number thing on the sticker at the back of the hub

*removes dunces hat' & leaves the corner :rotfl:

Yep, I had to enter that but in the meantime rude hub had got bored & put itself to sleep, hence the 5 phone calls & eventually turning it off & back on again.

However, I still havent sussed out how to connect my phone up to lappie so I can take pics of stuff & load onto ebay :(

*places dunces hat back on & retreats to the corner again*

Have a good day yourself and you've been busy already.
Got quite a few niggly catch up jobs to do myself so will add the camera to the long list.

Lula Z is good with all things technical ..perhaps he'll know
  • Flyin_Fresian is with Virgin so might be worth contacting her for help as she got her new laptop up and running last year.

Did they send you a new box/subsription paperwork when you moved or did you just take everything with you.

With BT we have a key code on the moden hub then a separate credit card sized card with a password on it. I know BT can talk you through connecting to a special site even when you aren't on line IYSWIM, to sort oout passwords etc, fingers crossed VIRGIN can do the same.

is there any way to get the settings from the old laptop?
