That really was survival of the fittest! My mother was one of 13, 3 of whom died in childhood. My father one of eight, 4 of whom survived. It's quite sobering to think that losing children was commonplace - as it is in some countries even today.
On the whole, I'll take today with anti-biotics (while they still work ) and clean water and safe milk.:grouphug:
Hope you're feeling better about things today.
Thanks Z, not too bad
Just got a couple of hours paid work today, tho two thirds is in the evening - I *wish* it was done by then, but not too bad. And I'll have a little trip out to the town centre - bank, library, admin, blah blahthats a bit of a relief.
See you later :hello:2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Yep! Helping my sister buy fixtures for her new kitchen (with my builder!!!) and then going back to hers, as her son is home for the weekend, then a Games Evening on Sunday - determined to wear one of my new skirts, and *not* the one I wore last time. Ironing may be involved
A very well packaged envelope just appeared on my doorstep :kisses3::kisses3::kisses3: the reciprocal hasn't yet left these premises, but will do this afternoon when I'm off to the librarythank you!

Oh hooray it's arrived! Hope you can read my scrawl although I don't think it says anything useful except which seeds are which :rotfl:
Sounds like a fun weekend - ironing though :eek:Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -

Ironing ... I've just been to check, and I have a grey crinkle cut with net underneath - I reckon that'll do. I'll sort a top out laterDon't really fancy ironing:)

KC, Sorry you have had a bad day or two but please don't think about leaving us :eek:Greying_Pilgrim wrote: »Karmacat, I'd meant to ask you about Crawley Folk Festival, is it a 'big' festival? Sort of a weekend, or was it more local, just for the day sort of thing. I've always wondered about music events, and whether to start attending some. I'm sure the Cambridge FF is booked out virtually year on year out, but was pondering whether there were alternatives, where you'd get to hear some good music, but not have to pay for the 'hype' value (as certain other rock/pop music festivals have become) IYSWIM.

Where I live we have something called Music on the moor every couple of years. It is over a weekend and is free. They have rock/pop on the saturday and jazz/classical on the sunday, all by local musicians. It is great to take a picnic, a seat or blanket, something to read and just sit listening, soooo relaxing. There is also an eco village. Bet you can guess where I will be the weekend after this. Link for anyone interested:

A flour-y presentwhat fun! But you have to tell me your paypal email so I can send you the postage
Been and gone to the town, by the way - everything fine, and I got a Dummies book out of the library on Six Sigma (no, I didn't find Getting Things Done there).
So now, I've got some paid work in 1.5 hours or so (this is the day that I would have been working in London - and I'm notbut I'm still doing the work) so I'm going to whiz round a bit - w/m on, tidying, paperwork away, all that boring stuff done before the weekend. And hopefully a few other tiny jobs too.
Hope everyone has a good weekend. And thank you all for the support you've shown me these past few days, its been incredibly powerful.
