    Morning (well nearly afternoon!)

Sounds like you are finally taking your own advice and listening ot yourself ;). I had a lovely nap yesterday afternoon, it was heaven and I felt great afterwards.

The sun is shining here today :T.

I'm back on surveys etc as we have decided that any dvd's or treaty bits have to come out of these, going for Amazon, HMV, Mr T and Love2shop at the moment! That way when we are out and about occasionally we will be a able to do a bit of shopping, or maybe save up the Amazon ones to buy something bigger and then sell it :money:

Morning. Hope that all is well with you. It is raining here. I am back in work as of today. Feeling PAH already so a quick tootle round the diaries to cheer myself up before dealing with a particular issue.
Then I am going to take a leaf out of your book KC and get out for a 15 minute walk in the middle of the day. Moo will be pleased!

  • Slap on the wrist I have only just found you - but have read it all and subscribed.

Feeling a bit tired myself at the mo combination of late nights (self inflicted:eek:) and the trip to Cardiff and back.

Have to go out to the docs to get prescription and register new foster child but then I am going to try and find time for one of my famous long baths but I have to wait for OH to get home first so I thought I would do a bit of diary catching up.

Have you heard from the Census job as I think you had your telephone interview around the same time as me which I think was 15 Dec they said I would hear in 2-3 weeks:(

I think 'balance' is definitely the buzz word at the moment. It's about what you want to get done, with your ability to do it without tiring yourself out too much. Speaking to people in the office today, this latest bronchial virus thing thats doing the rounds is really taking it out of people, so take it easy.

    Hello KC and friends

Yes, I agree with slobby days to balance the busy ones. As busy as I can be, I also have a great capacity to be lazy and love lying around reading the papers and watching the World go by :D Love your 15 minutes of walking and deep breathing, it doesn't take much to look after yourself, simply stopping and listening can make all the difference.

I saw the Jamie 30 Minute meal programme too last night and although it looked very meaty, I might buy the book. I love Jamie, his approach really gives me confidence to cook "if you don't have any of this, chuck a bit of that in" etc, rather than Delia's "if you don't use this 8 3/4 inch tin, the recipe won't work" :o

Hope your work went well :)
  • Macgirl I'm with you on Jamie v Delia

Cooking is improvised fun, i'm afraid I can't bear Delia

I can tolerate most things but not her way of cooking (and I don't know why) she makes me want to eat crisp sandwiches and never cook again

And I don't like crisps that much :)
I hope u get the book!

Thanks! Yes, I think I will. I've got a few of his books and there are always good recipes in them that I use again and again.
I honestly didn't cook before he came along and now people think I (me?!) am a *Good Cook* :rotfl:

I love Jamie Olivers books. I have several that were given to me as presents. I am a bit of a recipe book nerd though and tend to collect lots. I love cooking. I find Jamies recipes the best for just everyday cooking. I do have a couple of Delia cookbooks and whilst I do like the end result all the faffing does put me off rather. I am with you Pippi, cooking should be fun, bung it in and off you go. I saw him at Good Food show several years ago. He was just becoming popular. A man stood up and asked him what he could use instead of coriander as he didnt like it. He (JO) rolled his eyes and said well just leave it out. The audience laughed and Jules told him off. Then somebody stood up and said they were vegetarian to James ? (gorgeous by the way)off Saturday kitchen and asked how to adopt a certain meat recipe and he just burst out laughing and told him to get a life. It was hilarious and I am a vegetarian but thought that the man was a plonker for even asking such a silly question.

I have never cooked JO recipes but a friend of mine has commented that his 30 min recipes are only OK if you have a dishwasher as they generate lots of dirty pots. I can cope with Delia because all of the time I am looking for particular words / phrases (a but like BullS**t bingo if anyone has ever tried it) e.g. toasted, escaped, anchovy. She uses way too much cream, but her recipes do work well.

I also like Gary Rhodes books, since his stuff turns out just like the picture!
