Nope, sounds pretty idyllic to meWe recently moved to a house with a lovely garden, it's not big, but there are loads of rambling roses, fruit trees and a spot that I'm going to turn into a veg plot once the weather starts behaving itself.
I'm just watching Carol Klein in her garden - bliss, can't wait til I retire!Having a furry friend jump out of a kitchen cupboard having helped himself to our oats was gruesome
:eek::eek::eek: *faints*0 -
i can imagine kitkins, it's bad enough when i spot one that my lovely cats have brought home!
i've put hoover collectings in the compost bin, though they say you should only do it if you have wool carpets. mine seem to have composted down fine.0 -
OOh composting..:j...
Owing to rather a large number of small furries, I have several dalek compost bins (they are brill - much better than my old wooden slat ones) and put everything in (grass clippings, hoover contents, piggy bedding, shredded paper, loo rolls, tissues, tea bags, coffee grounds, remains of drinks/milk cartons, veggie bits, rice, eggs, spent hanging baskets etc etc) i.e. everything apart from [STRIKE]the kitchen sink[/STRIKE] meat. It composts well provided I mix it regularly (ie each time I can be bothered to get a fork and mess it around) rather than leave it in layers (and I need to make sure it is damp enough for composting to happen - sawdust/shavings can really dry out a compost bin....and conversely just grass clippings can become a slimy mess)
Composting is like cooking ...you need to get the balance of the ingredients right and keep stirring.
Nevertheless I DO get rats burrowing underneath to nest every year - but I stuff plastic bags of bait in the holes....(don;t worry - they tend to go elsewhere to push up the daisies).... I can't do much about the rats as I live by a stream so they come with the territory.....I just keep their numbers low enough and focused on the bins so they don;t intrude or are tempted to come into the house.
However the mouse population in my loft (that has been there since I moved in 12 years ago ) is now another matter. Most of the time there's only ever been a few (that I never notice) so it's live and let live....But judging from all the scurrying (and a certain pong before Xmas in my bedroom underneath the floor _pale_) it would appear some downwardly mobile squatters have recently occupied the first floor (which is rather unacceptable) so the bait is out...(and I am currently looking for cut price air feshener.:o)
Brings a whole new understanding to the words "Low level" maintenance :rotfl:
Talking of small furries KC.....a certain young [STRIKE]flirt[/STRIKE] piggy is currently giving himself a wash and brush up so he can visit his favourite aunty tomorrow. It would also appear that his (slightly jealous) brother is insisting on [STRIKE]chaperoning[/STRIKE] accompanying him
Hope you don;t mind two for the price of one. :money:

Hmmmm, this sounds familiar - think I might be local! Magic roundabout?:j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j0 -
Composting ... anything apart from meat, citrus skins and rhubarb leaves. No perenial weeds unless you can guarantee the compost will get hot enuf to kill 'em.
KC - Love the title of your new diary, reminds me of a song by Seize the Day called Bigger BullS**t now! With hindsight I now realise it wasn't the best CD to play to my niece and nefu when they were smaller(hey ho, they both turned OK ...). If you ever feel a little glum, look for YouTube stuff from Les Barker (toddles off to find required links ...)

Yes please :T:T:T
I'm astonished at the amount of moving stuff and tidying that I've done, and still has to be done. Its better than it was, thats true, and things are definitely starting to take shape.
Today isn't particularly focussed on dfw work - its just carrying on pottering in the house and tidying, and sitting with Wol and her little friends
Yesterday tired me out, I have to say - I did a whole trip around the town:
- checked bathstore will give me a credit note for an unused bottle trap - they will - means I can get a pebble plug for the downstairs washbasin, I love 'em, hurray!
- bought lots more wild bird food, and met someone else with rheumatoid arthritis, 20 years younger than me, poor thing.
- collected my slipper bootees from M&S, finally. Warm feet!
- did banking.
- took library books back - and I've got a Maeve Binchy one to try, I literally don't read modern fiction, thought it was time I gave it a try.
- tried out what I thought was the posh charity shop - it isn't as posh as I thought - though I bought some really nice little Christmas cards at £1 for 10.
Then I came home and did *nothing* - lay on the sofa all evening with a duvet over me - I even unpacked the shopping this morning :rotfl: My energy levels are definitely a bit dodgy :cool:2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
hope you find some energy and enjoy your time with Wol, say hi from me.0

Happy Saturday!
Finally caught up - phew! - three days back at work & it feels like a century.
Bah to the accountant's incompetance - but yeah to still having a refund of sorts.
Fabulous you've been so busy - it's no wonder the duvet called out your name!:D
Enjoy your day with company - the socializing & the cuddly piggies!
