Thanks Beanie - so do I! She hasn't been in contact yet today, I think I might ring her tomorrow if she doesn't make contact. Don't think I could bear to do it today.

The dratted curtain is also giving me some hard times :rotfl: and yet all may be for the best :o With two curtains, it would have been uncomfortably full, and yet to get to the upstairs rooms, you have to brush by it. *just* as I was almost finished, the strings that you pull to gather in the pleats .... broke :rotfl:Cue some swearing, and some time up the ladder again. Now, I've realised, I can cut the curtain where the tie of the strings is (my mum did them - she ties in the middle-ish, to avoid the tie being seen) finish off the side with wundaweb, do a *bit* of handsewing for the bit at the top, and hey-finally-presto :p

Well rescued on the curtains KC! :T :T And hope you sort out the pesky accounts - I reckon asking for a fee reduction (or waiver!) is a good plan. Good luck xx

I do self assessment and you can even take into account other income so whatever you french accountant confirms you would just need to slot in the relevant gaps.

Filling in online is very easy and they have always been very helpful. There is a help fact sheet on HMRC under the self emplyed section that tells you everything you should be claiming for, how to do it etc.

If you get stuck on anything you can always give me a shout!

Thanks Cheery - I'm kind of ignoring the accounts at the moment - I'll definitely ring tomorrow, and as far as tax liability is concerned, what will be will be, after all, if I'm liable, its cos I've earned it (as long as I take all the allowances I'm legally entitled to). Right now, I've abandoned the curtains too, I'm putting the tree and its furniture away. I think I might stuff the tree into the shed at the bottom of the garden, just to get it out of the way for the moment. Its all a bit of a juggling act right now ...

Pippa, thanks for this - you know, I think I'm going to do it. All this money, for this level of incompetence, its just not worth it - and I do so much of the work anyway! I'll start on this year's accounts in February, I reckon, to give myself *plenty* of time to do the extra work.

People are so kind on here ...

That's because YOU are so kind :)

I was feeling a bit alone with it, but I was able to chat to Lula right at the time, and then I come back on only a few hours later, and Lula's been there again, and there's loads of people supporting with vibes, and with forward looking suggestions, even. Its quite humbling, and absolutely amazing, to see. Thank you all, so much.

I haven't heard back from the accountant yet, but I will indeed be changing things -

I think Northernlas has a good suggestion. The accountant has been negligent and should be held to .....account (ahem :o)

This sounds like a good shout!

You've given me confidence on the bendy ladders, I always thought they were a bit dangerous. Hope you get the accounts and other stuff sorted x
