Morning KC ! Could the 'nice but boring' dress be made more interesting with the addition of a scarf, shrug or a long necklace ? Just a thought. Hope you find something you like. xx

Yep, I don't think small does it for compost - you might be out of luck there, gill.

Hi Pippi - when you've had your brekkie, could you tell me what you think about ivy? Does it work going into a compost bin, or do the suckers grow into roots and ruin everything?

Ooh, I just found the answer on recycle now:

    http://www.recyclenow.com/home_composting/making_compost/can_i_compost_it.html

Basically, compost the leaves but not the stems. B&ggr, that creates *more* work, not less!

If you poured hot water on them first they'd be compostable - or left them in water for 2-3 days it will kill the cells (bucket?). Then compost.

In the winter - I'd be doubtful they'd take root anyway - but to be safe maybe drown/bath them first. Path of least resistance........:D

    Any help?

I've got one of those darlick compost bins and it's great, they do them in various sizes so one may be small enough for your space.

Yes, Pippi, it is! Drowning for a few days is certainly feasible, I can put them in a bucket and cover them with water thats initially hot, that'll be fine. And much less work than snipping off the leaves, I really couldn't cope with that.

Ellidee - I know what you mean, to glam it up with accessories, but no, there isn't enough there to work with. Its just a nice dress, thats all, and it has to be more than that.

I've just finished the paid work I've got for the day, just having a snack before popping to the local post office in time to get back for the Asda delivery.... only £3 delivery charge, which is an absolute bargain.

    KC - quick visit.
Shame about the dress. Great to think you will be a size 10 but I always say size isnt the issue it is how you feel in it. Good luck finding something.
Loving the new buzz about the diary. Thanks. Now I really am off for that walk, well after I check out Cheery!

Hi there! I'm still feeling better today, thank god - it really has been horrible to be so ill for so long. The house would be so much easier to be in right now if I'd had all that time available to me! Well, I'm here now ... and, moving on:

I have a to-do list which has to be slightly altered because a client that was coming tomorrow is coming today instead, but its not too much. Just going to get going and do what I can - and I'm also going to go out for ten minutes before I do anything, because its *beautiful* out there right now!

Wish it was beautiful here, its dark and blowing a gale .

Dh was sure there was a cockatiel in next doors tree yesterday, DS as a bird breeder (to earn pocket money!) was sure it was a leaf and DH needed his eyes testing as the "tail" was not long enough and it was the wrong colour.

DH took a photo and enlarged it on the computer. Guess who won the bet - DS, so the rest of the day it was :p!

Love the cockatiel-that-wasn't! :) And yes, LT, it *is* parky, decidedly so - I wrapped up but still wasn't warm enough, but wasn't out for long enough for it to matter.

I'm quite pleased with myself in a way - I gave the batten in the hallway two coats of paint and vacuumed the stairs of days of muck :) it doesn't sound like much, but finding the right brush, getting the paint, finding the masking tape, finding the right (and safe) thing to stand on, then finding *another* thing to stand on, also safe, cos the first wasn't high enough ... it took forever. And the ladder is still upstairs, because I need to change its shape to get to one tiny little endpiece that I can't reach any other way - its one of those bendy ladders that lock into 3 different shapes, I love it.

*Very* tired now tho, I haven't really stopped all day, so stopping right now for a cuppa tea and *more* tidying :rotfl: with all these deliveries, the place is bursting at the seams again.
