KC - Time to be your own Guru and take a course in 'doin the books' so you can show the accountants the door!

I would be asking for a fees discount if you find that they have !!!!!!ed up your tax bill ... worth a go in my opinion, since the worst they can say is no and they could lose more business if you sent a letter to the local paper or posted on local small business forums!! Could you find someone who has a tax assist franchise? I'm in a business network and the people I have met through this who work under the banner of TA appear to know what they are on about.

KC - that accountant needs a good ........... well I better not or I will be kicked off MSE!

MR C had a similar problem with his accountants who should have been doing all of his accounts etc. He was paying good money only to find that they had missed quite a few things and he ended up with a tax bill quite unexpectedly. He was new to SE so he was a bit green. Last year I did his accounts for him and when he started the latest contract he discovered something called Paymasters or something like that . He simply sends in his details weekly and they take care of everything including taking his tax amount weekly. He is a much less stressed SE bunny now. Hope that you get it sorted

Gah to accountants mucking things up KC - hope it gets sorted quickly and turns out to be nothing *like* as bad as you think at the moment. Glad to hear you're feeing more energetic now - I noticed all of a sudden that my threatening cold (which has been lurking for weeks) seems to have backed off a bit - perhaps it's the new year and all that! :D

People are so kind on here ... I was feeling a bit alone with it, but I was able to chat to Lula right at the time, and then I come back on only a few hours later, and Lula's been there again, and there's loads of people supporting with vibes, and with forward looking suggestions, even. Its quite humbling, and absolutely amazing, to see. Thank you all, so much.

I haven't heard back from the accountant yet, but I will indeed be changing things - I'll look at the systems mentioned above for sure, and stop using these people. They used to be specialists for counsellors, but the woman who was in charge died several years ago, and since then everyone I know who uses this firm has had issues cropping up. I'd no idea mine were so severe - to miss out over £3k of income is a bit much....

Anyway, today, in a linked kind of way, I don't have any paid work :o but there's loads to do - its Twelfth Night, so I can finally put the Christmas tree away, get the washing machine on, clean the hob (which is disgusting ) and finish off those hall curtains from yesterday.

But first - a canter around the diaries :rotfl:

You could really bring Maple? That would be fantastic to have a little furry one to stroke for a little while!

Not too sure about the bleach, tho - the whole point is that it goes in the compost bin? We might need to just stick to hot water for that, sweetie :kisses3: though either bleach or hot water would do just as well for the accountant :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Mum sacked dads accountant after they made a complete mess of it. And she got £500 of the charges back, she now does it herself.

I know with you having the french bit you will probably need a professional but to miss income is unforgivable.

Well done on getting your mojo back :T

Thanks Pippa! Thing is, I have another accountant in France to do the actual French stuff - I reckon I could learn how to treat it over here, I really do, if I devoted the time to it. And since the payment to the English accountant is currently more than I earn in a week, there's quite an incentive there.
