I've got a JO book from when it went round on line but have never really looked at it, and never thought about the fact that I could just print off the pages I like the look of .
Really need to find some good healthy recipies for DH to try and lose weight (he doesnt actually eat enough calories in a day I worked out) but doesn't like pasta or rice either, so stir fry type things are out.0 -
Morning all! My net connection didn't want to play very much when I came on here last night, so never got to see the conversations .....Then I am going to take a leaf out of your book KC and get out for a 15 minute walk in the middle of the day. Moo will be pleased!
It makes so much difference!Double_Trouble wrote: »Slap on the wrist I have only just found you - but have read it all and subscribed.
Thanks DT!
Have you heard from the Census job as I think you had your telephone interview around the same time as me which I think was 15 Dec they said I would hear in 2-3 weeks:(
We did have our interviews at the same time but no, I haven't heard yet - since they rang me to book the interview as I'd forgotten to do it online, I'd be astonished if I hadn't got it, to be honest with you - and I'm sure they'd be dying to have you as well. Speaking to people in the office today, this latest bronchial virus thing thats doing the rounds is really taking it out of people, so take it easy.
So true ... I'm trying to avoid crowded situations at the moment, frankly, to lessen the chances of picking something up, my immune system in general being about as strong as a wet paper bag

Wonder how many time we can recycle that box back and forth between our two abodes
Excellent! I hope they'll be very happy up there :j The recycling could go on indefinitely, it was a good strong box :rotfl: Digging them up really showed me how much clay is in this soil - my previous house was very chalky, with a very thin layer of topsoil, gardening here is going to be quite different.
EDIT - in the JO programme I saw, there was a brilliant recipe for frangipane, which I adore - 100g sugar, 100g butter, 100g ground almonds, 1 egg, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. I could certainly add that to my batch cooking days as one of the things to cook!
Today, no paid work, which I'm glad of, so the list so far is looking like this:
- post office - accounts, JL returns, some Christmas leftover stuff to go.
- 3 phone calls.
- practice the trading.
- reorganise the furniture - decided to do that today, its time. I *will* have a liveable house :j2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
I bought the JO 30 min meal book yesterday......but on getting it back to the office wasn't inspired, so it will be going back to Waterstones to be swapped for a different one

I'm certainly not buying any cookery books! I have enough, there's the web, and my sister got me an M&S Easy Vegetarian book as a tree present....2023: the year I get to buy a car0

I tend to use the bbc.co.uk/food site because it gives you shopping lists for each meal too.....but from time to time I love a new cook book

I was just thinking of them, actually - I saw Nigel Slater for the first time recently as well, and I like what he was nattering about. Books ... I love 'em, I'm just *drowning* in 'em :rotfl:2023: the year I get to buy a car0

I use the bbc site a lot too. Love the shopping lists. I am a sucker for books in general but I seem to have acquired an particular knack of buying cook books - even vintage ones. My favourite ever is an authentic indian cook book which even explains how to set the table for the different courses. Love it so much it is falling to pieces. I should scan some of the pages into the computer
I hear that the JO 30 minute book was featured on watchdog as not taking 30 minutes - I ask you when builders rip people off like Mike, bank charges and all the other things going on watchdog pick on good old Jamie.
Oops sorry KC rant over

Rant away, cheri! I think Jamie is still an easy target for some sections of the media, in spite of his popularity, maybe because of it.
Right, I've been sitting here long enough - action! i.e., I'll go get another cuppa tea, and put the bird food out while I'm at it

Morning Karmacat I'm following you as well for some inspiration..!
New Year is a great time for making new plans and planning ahead for the rest of the year. Right now, I am going through my treatments etc. but we are also a few weeks away from handing our house keys back (long story, victims of recession/property value drop, debt and proceeding with bankruptcy) moving into a wee rented flat and I am looking forward to putting it all behind and setting goals for the rest of the year. So will be following your diary if that's ok
(p.s. not looking for any sympathy, this is all going to make our lives better)
With a name like Karmacat I think you will get there! My troy the cat gives me loads of good Karma...hope I can give you some of it
and others too!
Hope it's a good year for us all XX
p.s I like the bbc good food website for my soup recipes...the brocolli and stilton soup is so easy and delicious, I'm making it today!Owned by a Great Dane :heartsmil
