Afternoon all, today I have a random day off......and boy do I need it! Took night nurse last night and had the best nights sleep, went off before the end of 'apprentice' and woke up at 9.30am. Other than stack the dish washer I have done nothing today...however I don't feel bad about it, I feel recharged.:)
My big brother and my sister in law went to see my Mum last night, I made a conscious decision not to go as I knew I would want to smuggle her out and bring her home! I am going tonight; I know this was the right choice as I feel so much stronger today and therefore can be stronger for her and make the right choices based on knowledge not emotion.:o
The only thing I wish is that Mum was closer, the hospital is a 65 mile round trip away, If she was closer I could go twice a day, however I know I am lucky, I can drive, have a reliable car, so evening visiting it is. I really enjoy her company so its no hardship. (Wow was that like a positive thought there??!!):)
We are looking into arranging some respite care for when my Dad is on holiday (as hopefully Mum should be out of hospital by then), there is a fantastic nursing home close to us, that has loads of activities daily (which is jusy what mum needs), fingers crossed this will work out.
When I phoned the hosptial yesterday to see how mum was, the staff member told me she was laying the table ready for lunch for everyone! I am sure the staff are going to love her:):T.

So sorry to hear what's happened. But do listen to TYO - this is not your fault. And I agree with everyone else that you're a great daughter.
I hope they're able to help her, and that the treatment will really make a difference.

Its a horrible thing to go through TPA but hopefully they can find a way of keeping the strangers at bay. Its far more common than you think though. My mum chucked all the furniture out of the dining room when we were small so that our visiotrs could errect their teepee but she was adament the horses were staying out in the garden. I had a grnadfather who communicated by morse code torch flashes from behind the sofa and another grandparent who asked us to move up on the sofa so that his other children could sit down. He also set extra places at the table for them and spent ages looking for them when they eventually left. Reading that lot theres really no hope for me is there. Still at least I know I have an interesting old age to look forward to.

My mum couldn't move hospital wards until the donkey came to take her up the stairs. And was much taken by the man with the (invisible) tea tray with teapot, cups etc. on his head.

Sending you hugs sounds like you mum is in the best place but it must be so so hard. My gran saw children in her bed and dogs in the kitchen as well as having an eternal fear of being thrown out of the sheltered flat she had bought. Very had for the relatives but she sounds like she is in good hands.Save £12k in 25 No 49

Today me and DH are going to take our dog (who mum adores!) up to the hospital, along with a picnic (flask of tea too!) and sit in the grounds (which are beautiful-every cloud and all that!) with Mum. Hopefully she will really enjoy it....now we just need to keep the rain at bay.
Yesterday Mum packed her bags as she was convinced she was being thrown out of the hospital..she didn't want to leave so was very upset, and couldn't work out what she had done wrong to be 'evicted'.
She said to me yesterday 'I don't even know if this place is private or not, I mean I keep having cups of tea, we could be due a big bill'! Bless her, if you could see the state on the actual building (no reflection on the fabulous staff) you would realise how funny this statement was!
I am at peace with my self over her being there.....most of the time! Time will tell where we go from here.
