psssst - radiators - if they get hot, but only in patches, usually to around half way up, then they need bleeding. ;)

My lunchtime adventure to the shops has yielded 3 packs of sausages for 99p each instead of £1.97 and some reduced fishcakes. Just need to find some space in the work fridge now ;)

I have paid my £10.20 into my mortgage which takes this years overpayments to £211.23. My interest for this year on the mortgage is £230.95 (Don't hate me, it's a small mortgage on base rate and I get taxed through the @rse for Benefit in Kind!!) so next month I should be able to offset the interest for the year and start overpaying capital :j

And that, m'dear. is where it REALLY starts paying off! The other "proper" tipping point is (although possibly not in your case as you might already be there by the sound of it) when you realise that you are paying more off the capital each month than in interest. That was a "WOO!"" moment for sure!

My swagbucks total is going up nicely, even if their seach facility is the worst I've ever tried .
If you have a Twitter account, follow @SwagBucksTricks as they usually have a couple of codes for extra bucks every day.

    Right, money news first....

    PAD/Spends - £26.01
    Entertainment - £15.45
    Groceries - £123.45
ISA - £1477.53 and will be over £1500 come payday :j
    VSP - £368.78

I'm very close to having £2000 in total savings, which is more than I've ever had in my life :o That would cover my costs (assuming some cutbacks were made) for two months in the event of something unforseen happening. I need to have more than this and to change my focus so that I have the same mindset that I did when I was clearing debts. I would like to be able to do this while still having some fun though ;)

I need to speak to my friend about our planned trip to the Olympics. We have about £1500 saved up between us at the moment and from the look of it that's not going to get us very much value. Although we've been saving for ages, for that money we could have a few days in New York instead! I also don't want to end up going to events I'm not that interested in.....

I now have to go and input about two weeks worth of spending into my spreadsheet. I really need to get better at completing that daily :o:o

    Thank Crunchie it's Friday :D

I've put the "spare" £6.01 from my PAD account into my VSP this morning, which leaves me £20 of slush money for the next week, although I've also got £16 in my purse. Hopefully I can stick to the cash and PAD the whole £20. I would like to be able to put another £5 or so cash into the mortgage as a final wee overpayment for the month too.

Plans for the weekend include the joy of Ikea (which means that my ISA will take a wee beating) and then possibly Costco too to stock up on cat gubbins. It's such an exciting life here at Fresian Towers ;)
  • Cheers for the extra tip, I've got a work twitter so i'll see if DH will let me get away with it ;).

I just wish that we could monitor our mortgage online like you can with some, that way I could see what bit is what, but at least its repayment and going down!
One small step for ME, one giant leap for my family!

2015 - my Amazon Gift Certificate mini challenge - saving to buy small household electrical items.

I only know the interest etc because I popped into the branch yesterday, the online banking for my mortgage is rubbish!

    Good morning F_F

Well done on the savings for both ISA and Olympics and your chipping away at the mortgage. Brilliant give yourself a pat on the back, you deserve it.

I wanted to go to the olympics and registered for ticket notification but with my line of work, I have no chance as we are not allowed to book any leave at the moment and by the time we get closer, I would probably have to pay an extortionate amount for tickets. wish I had started saving sooner :( hey ho.

Love catching up with your life adventures. Your musings bring a smile to my face. Loving the shop bargains.

Have a good day sweetie. ;)
