Hello,
Well done - it is great to run your own subject - all your own ideas!
SquirrelPaid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -
I'm thinking of ditching mystery shopping as well at the minute. If I don't do any I won't have to do a tax return next year. With the maths tuition, exam marking and taking more on at work its just all getting a bit much. If things quieten down in the future I can always take it up again.
There haven't been that many decent jobs in my area for a month or two anyway. I've slackened off on surveying as well. Tryin to decide if I'm just being lazy. But then I have my dissertation to start thinking about as well. Hmmm.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Hey twinklie
I think it sounds a good idea to focus on some of the things rather than try and do everything- I dont think its laziness, Im exhausted just thinking of doing all that stuff!
Plus no tax return has to be a bonus!
Forgot about your dissertation - when is it due in?0 -
Your financial reward is going to be better for doing your real work, so that is definitely what i would be focussing on if i were you. Mystery shopping and surveys are ok if you are doing not a lot else like me, but is a false investment of your time unless you are on hols in my opinion.
And then you should be resting after doing the rest of the stuff.
Sorry to hear the ITT student is being a pain. Might be worth keeping a closer eye on if they are ordering the equipment and are prepared. Just get the lab tech to tell you if they have not ordered stuff. It's easy to feel overwhelmed especially before a hol and not get stuff done. I bet the staff were really cross.0 -
student sounds like our one, if they will not follow advice, there is no hope. xPlease do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0

I've got the techs on her and the other staff for that matter. Like you say Grateful, if they won't listen there isn't much you can do. Bloomin' nightmare. Today was better...I have very little to do with her on a Wednesday. She teaches 2 of my lessons tomorrow though which is a bit grim. Boo.
Took Belle on the park when I got home. She's sooooo goood off the lead now. She properly is mummy's little angel. I miss her more and more when I'm at work...it's very strange. Think I need to get out more. Ha ha.
My mum has jury service starting on the 9th and she's papping herself. Not happy at all!Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Right so it's another long weekend - WOO HOO! I'm very much in need of it for some reason. LOL.
Had to have words with my student today as well due to other...erm, errors. Lets just say the words "if you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen" passed my lips. She tried pulling the, well I'm struggling with the planning because when I got home last night and made tea, then washed up etc it was like 7 pm and then I still had to plan. I felt a bit mean but basically said, look normally I'd be completely understanding about such things but we've just had a holiday....planning for this week should be all done and dusted!! I know it's hard being a student but once you get qualified, yeah your faster at planning etc, but also you get a whole host of other responsibilities dumped on you...the pressures do NOT get easier.
I think she's in it for the money, not the desire to teach or love of science. It's really frustrating from my point of view. Grr.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Oh please!!! If she thinks she can hold down a teaching job without ever planning after 7pm then she's soooo out of touch with reality. We get lovely long holidays (although only at the most expensive times), but during term time we work insane hours. That's the deal. Take it or leave it.
Good luck dealing with her. Maybe you'll be able to persuade her that teaching isn't going to make her happy, and encourage her to look for her niche elsewhere. Personally, I wouldn't do anything else, but it's a hopelessly demoralising job for anyone who isn't really suited to it.Starting again 13/4/19Home loan 1: £21,102.50 Home loan 2: £7,698.99Total owed: £28,801.49

I wish someone had said that to me chuck when i was training. Is she serious? I know last term was the longest one ever in terms of energy levels, but how many days has she had off in April? Like you said, she is not going to get it any easier next year if her timing is not right now.
Have a nice rest. x0
