Thanks for making me feel better about what felt like a rather intense meeting. I'm a realist though and I wouldn't be doing her any favours by being anything less than honest. I hope I put it across in the right way though. We shall see if my words have impact next week I guess.

Seriously, you have to do what is right or she will flounder next year. I think there is a tendency to think it is all almost over by this stage isn't there.

My DS is only at school 8 days in April, so seriously she should be able to manage that.

Sounds like you were understanding and realistic.

I'd not dwell on it now over the weekend, but maybe drop an email to the uni to mention what you have said as it is causing you concern and it will cover your backside if it goes a bit pear shaped.

Well, I'm going to give her the opportunity to respond to feedback before I mention anything official. But I am in contact with her tutor at uni and one of my assistant heads is keeping a close eye as well. She's the professional mentor for the school and one of the uni tutors pulled us aside to say "watch this one". So it's all being done openly and transparently.

And after a good sleep I don't feel bad about what i said at all. Ha ha.

I wish it was the first (expect that would mean the long weekend is essentially over). I want to update my totals. :rotfl:

Right, worked like a trouper this morning. Taken Belle on a LONG LONG walk. She tried to kill me by running into me full tilt. :rotfl:
I've scrubbed out and cleaned the yard, sorted out the recycling, washed more clothes and hung them out, scrubbed all Belles things, washed Belle in the yard, sorted out some finance bits and bobs and am now going to do a spot of filing. Decided I'm going to just do my totals for the mortgage today because I'm impatient and I'll probably be too busy to get round to it when it comes round to it.

Although something else to note. DH has just taken out a graduate loan for 1.5K for his scooter. It means he'll not have to rely on buses and trains anymore and may just save his sanity. We shall see.

Yey! My outstanding mortgage is now below £35'000! :j Exciting times. :T The next two big mile stones for the mortgage are to get payments so that I'm paying off over £300 in actual payments every month and reducing the interest to less than £5 per day!

It looks as though we might be able to claim back our PPI for the mortgage as well. We cancelled it in February because we weren't covered by it. Looks as though looking into the details a bit more we've been completely mis-sold. Hmmm....Now to work out how much that has cost us since 2005!!

OMG! We are talking around £1000!!

Right so it's another long weekend - WOO HOO! I'm very much in need of it for some reason. LOL.

Had to have words with my student today as well due to other...erm, errors. Lets just say the words "if you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen" passed my lips. She tried pulling the, well I'm struggling with the planning because when I got home last night and made tea, then washed up etc it was like 7 pm and then I still had to plan. I felt a bit mean but basically said, look normally I'd be completely understanding about such things but we've just had a holiday....planning for this week should be all done and dusted!! I know it's hard being a student but once you get qualified, yeah your faster at planning etc, but also you get a whole host of other responsibilities dumped on you...the pressures do NOT get easier.

I think she's in it for the money, not the desire to teach or love of science. It's really frustrating from my point of view. Grr.

I wonder if that's the problem, they are being given unrealistic expectations?

Our student came out with EXACTLY the same excuse

"I got to ten o clock and I still hadn't finished so I packed it in because I was tired" er...no!
She also figured she could use her 4 kids as an excuse, but they are all of secondary school age, so I'm not sure they are an excuse...
Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x

Yeah she was talking about her son who is also at secondary school. Unfortunately it's not the easiest job in the world. But then...I wouldn't like it if it was. I'd be BORED! Ha ha
