Minnie, Nuala and Sandra have hit the nail on the head with regards to the funeral. When my best friend died in her early thirties I wore my favourite patchwork skirt as I knew she would have wanted me to be celebrating her life in bright colours and what was comfortable for me. Just being there is more important than garments as has already been said.
I do hope it goes as well as can be.Here dead we lie because we did not choose
To live and shame the land from which we sprung.
Life, to be sure, is nothing much to lose,
But young men think it is,
And we were young.

You've done well this week!
Not growing anything yet, still wondering what I might grow in my very limited space. really should try annuals instead of buying them, to use in my flower troughs.
But might try some veg, or even lettuce this year.
Will see what I think of! Need layers to make it work in my very confined space, but want to be able to sit out in the sun too!
I am only growing veg in my garden this year im pleased to say!
Have plenty of seeds left from last year and it will involve
Spring onions Aubergnies, courgette, corn ( maybe, I dont think my spot is sunny enough! peppers tomatoes radish spinach lettuce leaves, watercress, green beans, broad beans, long beans, mange tout, peas, sugar snap. all the stuff that is expensive baiscally! (last year was quite a successful test run, except i did everythin in pots, so they died from lack of feed in the end but I did get some good stuff, Now I have a garden, although it is FULL of brambles I need to deal with (?!?)
I dont think I can be botheed with carrots or potatoes, again this year, they are cheap enoguh to buy really adn a lot of hard work if you dont have the space.
Im saving the plastic pots from yogurt, creme fraiche, pot noodles, trays mushrooms come in etc every little helps to raise seedlings In I cant afford to buy little pots this year ( no need anyhow) Must remember to save empty pop bottles for cloching and i have a carrier bag in the bathroom to save loo roll innards for raising seeds in.
Im going to try and find something to make a wormery in as well, not sure what yet! Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

Thanks, SF! :T
and nice to 'see' you again on the new challenge!
Arggh, must get to bed - long day tomorrow. zzz
have edited to say something about funerals (I hadn't read that bit when i first posted). I was casually dressed at my father's funeral, because I'd travelled in a hurry to the hospital across half England and then been up day and night with him, then I had to help Mum after his death. There wasn't time to think about clothes. Nobody held it against me, in fact I think they realised that I had been using my time in other ways and clothing was the last thing on my mind. It really didn't matter.'Whatever you dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Begin now.' Goethe

I am going to try and grow a few things this year, although the only things that seem to grow happily are my raspberries, nettles, my pear tree and the brambles like you. Here dead we lie because we did not choose

Don't think I've seen this mentioned yet...so here you are!
When I do food shopping next, will take advantage of Mr M's Shoulder of pork offer (on until Sunday), £2.16 per Kg.
Might even get a large joint, and cut it into 3 or 4 smaller joints!
Also tempted to cook a gammon hock, but no slow cooker, and boiling it for so long, must surely reduce any economy? Any thoughts/ideas are welcome!
Morning
how about in the oven on its lowest setting

NSD again, no reason to spend before my month end on the 23rd.
Minnie, as others have said, just wear something respectful, especially if held in a relgious building, ie no boobs on show!
I find about 1/4 of my peers wear brightly coloured things to funerals, I tend to bar when the it is for someone in their 80's or older. The funerals I have been to in recent years, especially those of children, have been sad obviously, but they have been more about a celebration of the life and the way they touched the lives of thodse attending.
Have you got a black coat? Or formal black jacket? They may help you feel more traditional. Or perhaps could a friend of similar size lend you one?
The only thing I ever saw at a funeral that seemed innapropriate, was my own aunt(she is 70)! Pure white skin tight capri pants and top, teamed with gold belt, gold bag and gold shoes and about 40 tonnes of gold dripping from her, teamed with her big hair(to the bum), perma tan and garish make up it was just odd at any occasion to be honest. So if that is your normal attire, then maybe you should re think! It just seemed very materialistic looking in the circumstances
