Ooo have you any tips? I have a space that would be perfect for a raspberry bush.

Raspberries are very easy. Your supposed to cut them back in the spring or Autumn depending if they're summer or Autumnn fruiting but I never bother and still get loads of raspberries. Apparently they don't move well but I gave my neighbour some canes and they're been just fine.

No, apart from keep a close eye on it if you do plant one. Shoots from it pop up everywhere, which is why they take over so quickly.
  • I'm getting my greenhouse soon (which is coming out of birthday money from last year). Saved up for it, but never got round to ordering it last year as the OH wants to build the base first, so I thought I'd wait rather than have loads of boxes lying around the garage.

Sorry Erme. I've got lots of recipes for nut roasts but yours sounded so nice with the seeds in. In my defence I did say if you had a mo. I feel like I've been really naughty now. Promise I won't ask you anything else :(

So sorry I snapped Lizzie - was not one of my finer moments. I owe you an apology and here it is...I'm far from perfect to say the least :(

Will delete that horrid post in a sec...still really tired this am and managed to wake up @ 2 or something having crawled out of bed .

Also glands in groin are really painful and so is thumb (knees have also been this week for some strange reason) so just downed a paracetamol praying the pain goes away. I had a bug for a few days end of last week that I treated with rest and vit c and would hate to go down with another bug so soon :(

    You've done well this week!

Not growing anything yet, still wondering what I might grow in my very limited space. really should try annuals instead of buying them, to use in my flower troughs.

But might try some veg, or even lettuce this year.

Will see what I think of! Need layers to make it work in my very confined space, but want to be able to sit out in the sun too!

I have ordered the T&M tubs for the lounge :T - but you can just buy supermarket cheap pots and chit them in a cupboard :)...veg garden for me on Saturday - can't wait to get clearing and get dirty :D...I have a double sized plot this year so will have to get the new crew saving toilet rolls for seeds and start off some seeds under glass... Or something...or nab some compost and start them @ home (that's going to be a sight for sore eyes - me taking a cheap washing up bowl of seedlings on the bus to the veg garden :rotfl:)

Anyhow feeling lousey but at least had hardly any cigs this am following fresh start on e-cig :)

  • It's all in the mind that did make me laugh about your Auntie. To be honest good for her I say, if that's her style go for it although not my cup of tea either!:rotfl:

I'm making a Chorizo and spicy bean stew tonight - never done it before so hope it will be nice!

Normally I say good on her, I admire her could not care less attitude, but this was like a drag queen going off to perform on a cruise ship :rotfl:

Ooooo if nice, share it :)

Also tempted to cook a gammon hock, but no slow cooker, and boiling it for so long, must surely reduce any economy? Any thoughts/ideas are welcome!

Midwinter, I bought a gammon hock from Mr M the other week. I boiled it for two hours and then shoved it in the oven for 25 mins. It was delicious and it went a long way. We had it with cheese and then in carbonara, omlette and then the dog had the leftovers. I think the hock itself was only 1.56 so for all that meat I thought it was quite good value, I'm not sure how much gas it used but I think it was worth it.

I called the insurance broker to try and get a cheaper quote. None available with other companies (as my web search showed) but they did knock £40 off the premium as a good will gesture. Still more expensive than last year but I'm grateful for any reduction.

I've had an acknowledgement of my letter to Mr A and await a response from them.

Hope everyone is having a good frugal day

Well I did some spraving in M and S on the half price cheese (we get through so much) and sweet chilli sauce which I am addicted to, although MrsE sent me a lovely recipe for chilli jam which I need to try. I bought the chilli and mango one to try.I also got maple syrup buy one get one half price in H and B for my porridge as it's a bit better for me than golden syrup! But a ridiculous price!
Another fab cardie from the charity shop to replace my losses and some Christmas cards.

  • Hey peeps, don't know if anyone remembers me ranting about having to go to Pizza Express for my nephew's second birthday this weekend...:o

Anyway, DH bumped into his sister in the town today and asked if we could drop his presents round tomorrow night as his birthday is tomorrow and she said they are having a birthday tea for him round my MIL's so we could drop them there.

I am now :( and a little bit  because we haven't been invited to it. I've told DH that I don't feel comfortable dropping round when we're not invited to the actual tea.

This has just upset me a bit. :o And makes me wonder why I bother trying to please them when they make me feel so fed up. :( Sorry, rant over, and not a frugal post! I'll try to do some more reading back this afternoon. :)
