    AA are pretty good
Decent seating (in twos at the side and you can prebook at no charge), food is reasonable, crew are older -which personally I prefer as they are more experienced and good connections.

What is worrying you about the reviews ?

I was reading the reviews on a site that is recommended by MSE, and most of them say the planes are very old and the seats are very uncomfortable. I'm not too fussed about the food because I'm not much of a picky eater, but I'm a very nervous flyer and my last long haul flight to Australia was horrendous because I was separated from my sister and stuck in the middle of a 5 row seat where I didn't sleep a wink.

I guess I'm just worried that I'll get so stressed out the seats will feel even more uncomfortable than they're supposed to be. I have pre-booked though and managed to get into the rows of 2 for the first two legs of our journey.

If you read through this and the last Vegas sticky you will find lots of us on here that have flown with AA, and considering the one of the alternatives (VS from LGW) the seats are like sitting on pillows:D
As an edit, I wonder why people make such a thing over the comfort of seats, you are in a tin can with weight restrictions, just how comfortable do you expect a seat to be that has someone sitting on it for best part of 20 hours ever day. If flying in economy we always take a nice big pillow and a couple of the Dunlopillow "doughnuts" to sit on, now that is comfort.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Pretty much agree.......an economy seat is just that. Some are better than others but if you want real seat comfort -go business class or first. Flying Virgi in the summer after a long break -I realized just how bad their seats are compared with AA and Delta.

Economy to Australia is horrendous whoever you fly with as it's just too long to sit in that kind of seat . USA as it's shorter is better and changing planes gives you a chance to stretch your legs -if I have time I always go through security so I can go outside and get some unprocessed air before flying on -but you do need to allow time to do that -and if you're anxious anyway -perhaps better to just have a walk around the terminal (plenty of shops to browse) and grab a bite to eat . Domestic flights in the US charge for food in economy-you can usually buy cheaper and better during your layover.

BTW you can name sites here :) If it's tripadvisor -you'll also see advice here to take most of their reviews with a pinch of salt as often it's first timers with little basis for comparison -or even competitors "planting" reviews. To illustrate what I mean-think of a hotel you've stayed at and loved -and look up the reviews-you often wonder if people actually stayed at the same place ! :)

Price doesnt include Resort Fee, and if they dont list it as per your contract, keep all receipts, then make a claim when u get back...
How to get the price like for like (to a certain degree), email the hotels guest relations manager, and deal that way to get a better rate....

Ok, so I will not risk it with Netflights, don't fancy arguments afterwards..:(

Oh I definitely understand taking reviews with a pinch of salt! Our last holiday to Barcelona a few weeks ago had possibly the worst reviews ever on tripadvisor and I really loved it, I sometimes think people just like to complain for the sake of it!

And I do understand that no matter how padded the seats are that sitting in the same position for best part of a day is going to be uncomfortable, just as I said I'm a nervous flyer and get stressed before I've even got on the plane which heightens my perceptions of everything in the first place. I fly Ryanair to pretty much all my European holidays, I know what a true uncomfortable flight is!!

Netflights dont mention the resort fee at all, and it will be cheaper to book through UK agents (depsite people saying otherwise on here!), .

    You cannot make that gtee.
I dont think anyone on here has ever said "it will be cheaper booking with whoever"

The consensus is to check all booking agents, be it in the UK or the US and with the hotel direct.

The one big advantage of booking direct is the option to get them to reduce the price if the rate goes down and to get the room comped if you gamble enough etc

No doubt it will do the job, but I just use a sqaure piece of foam, with a cushion cover on it, most foam retailers will sell you a 2/3 inch thick piece of foam for a lot less than £18
