we have flown PE on Virgin twice - once was a treat to make up for MaxJet going bust (we had booked with them, and when we got the email about them going bust we booked Virgin PE as about the same price). The second time PE wasn't as expensive as it usually is - maybe 50% more than the economy fares rather than 2x the economy fares...not sure how the prices compare now as haven't checked recently.

On the current Vegas fleet (at least the usual planes) It IS nicer - especially in the bubble we think...but we don't think it is 2x time price better...if that makes sense? It is relative, if you can afford it then it's certainly a much nicer experience...but even if you can afford it, will it be worth it? Not sure.

We did fly PE to Australia on an Airbus A340 - THAT was worth the price...but not sure on the Vegas route at present if we would do it again...probably as we're so put off flying Virgin economy now. :) I think if we knew we could get the extra legroom seats - pairs at the back - we would do that rather than PE...I think, but can't guarantee.

Pleased to here about The Sahara - headed down that end of the strip on our visit in August to go up the tower at the Stratosphere and it was so sad to see. They were having a clearance sale of all the furniture extra in the hotel rooms I so wanted to go and have a look to see how much stuff was.

Hopefully you will be able to walk through from the monorail again, the walk around it was not nice at all.

Great - given that Virgin is the worst at clearing trays after meals, that should work really really well! :) It's one of the things that irks me about Virgin...

No it just means that you will still have your first tray for the same amount of time and then your dessert tray for the same amount of time again..so I make that double the time it used to be:D

lol. Does anybody else play the "what have they served you game?" You know, when they give you what is "supposed" to be chicken, but looks like beef and tastes like fish?

Next time I think I will just ask them not to bother giving me the main tray and just give me the banoffee gooey thingy instead. Hot chocolate is a welcome addition though, the tea given on a Virgin flight is disgusting.

Oh and "yay" on the Sahara news too. Myself and DH have a lot of sentimental memories of that place because it was our first Vegas hotel. We walked it from there to the wedding chapel when we got married and everybody in that area wished us well.
We were very well looked after there, and it's nice to know that it won't be reduced to rubble.
