MarchIf I were you, I'd go for it - although 2 weeks is a long time for a holiday in Las Vegas. Better, imo, if you are going for that long to have a side trip to Los Angeles, or the Grand Canyon even San Francisco for a few days.
GC is risky in December due to potential for snow - north rim is (I think) closed in December...though I know not many go to the north rim - it's either south or west for most...we normally go to Vegas for 8-9 nights and would love to do a full 14 nights...but we do always have a car and do get out and explore things like Valley of Fire, Red Rock Canyon, Zion National Park, Laughlin, Oatman (finally!) - etc...but 99% of the time we're back in Vegas by evening. I know not everyone would agree, but for us 2 weeks staying in Vegas would be fantastic.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

While the rain may not 'seem' to heavy to you.....it is way to much for the system to deal with here. Places here (roads/casino lots) flood here very quickly. Lots of aquaplaning cars again ;-) If you're not familiar with the roads it can be very dangerous driving on them in heavy rain.
The one thing I've learned living here is that the weather forecasts are excellent. Often letting us know down to the minute when the rain/storm will hit a certain area in the valley. So if you're warned to stay indoors because of lightening/storms please do so. Not worth the risk IMHO.
I didnt say the weather wasnt crap, I have seen the forecasts but i still stand by what i said about forecasters going overboard everytime it isnt sunny and warm, and then again they also go overboard when it hits 110* and warn you to stay indoors then
ps..there was no need to take offence0 -

I drove to GC one year at Christmas - can't remember which side! Red Rock Canyon is also good at that time of year, unless there is snow.
I get your point, but max a week is enough for me!0 -

Gulp! I wonder how the homless people who live in the storm drains (as per Justin Lee Collins programme) are? So sad.0 -
OctoberHi, looking for a bit of advice.
Would anyone recommend or discourage going to Vegas in December? My partner has seen a great deal leaving on the 5th December for a fortnight. Biggest concern is about temperatures at that time of year.
Many thanksThe common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
MarchDid Christmas in Vegas about 3 years ago, not again for me, the music drove me nuts, all the jingly jingly stuff wherever you went and I mean everywhere. Playing poker in the excalibur and there was a big commotion, the music loop was to short or faulty so you were getting the same thing every half hour.
Nearly kicked my mate along the strip, stopped at Walgreens to pick up some first aid bits (no I had not slashed my wrists), when I came back to the car he had the radio on playing Christmas carols, I was the one in the car park howling at the moon!
Also I can't get on with the American version of Christmas dinner. Had a great steak in Excaliber but was quite stunned to find Maccy D's queuing out the door and 4 saffron robe monks in line at Baskind? only Vegas baby.0 -

Fair enough, but I actually find Las Vegas very non Christmassy - one of the reasons I like going there!
There's plenty of great places to eat on Christmas day - although Excalibur and McDs would not be among them for me on Christmas or any other day!0 -

MayDon't know if anyones mentioned social rewards where you basically tweet/facebook offers and get points to redeem for drinks/shows/nightclub entry/free rooms/meals, below are the links. For some it may be a bit of effort just for a free meal but I spend a lot of time on the internet reading this and trip advisor I tweet on a daily basis and can't turn down free show tickets and meals.
