So... Everyone on the Vegas thread likes going to Vegas...?
lol
Missus is all of a sudden a student again and noticed that on the STA travel website it lists flights from £299... Anyone any experience with STA? What's the catch?0 -

no catch, though like you said, you need to be student/under 26/a teacher to get that rate.
even if you do, which is the absolute minimum you will pay in, say, november, it'll be indirect and likely take 15+ hours plus.0 -

Funny you should just post this. I was doing a dummy booking on there as OH has a NUS card (easy to get without being a student) but you have to buy another type of student card for £9 and that one is tougher to get:o Couldn't really find any flights worth having. Cheapest was November LGW-PHL-LAS and return 13 hours out 17 hours back £413 and the new cardThe common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
Ferf...glad you could make some use of the vouchers and thank you for taking the time and effort to redistribute.
Big thanks from me, Bubble:T for the vouchers, which Ferf passed on. We'll have 3 days to use them before they expire on 30/12/11 so will give them a good go. One of the vouchers is for a 2-4-1 buffet at the Golden Nugget so we'll make use of that for dinner on our first night!0 -

JulyWe used to like going to different places on holiday until visiting Vegas.....we struggle to go anywhere else now! Been going once or twice a year now for the last 10yrs!
i'm glad others have said this!
have only been twice (both in the last 12 months), but could seriously keep going back and back... you can do something completely different every time!
though breaking the (now) routine and trying Boston next (any similar Boston forums that people know of, other than the Tripadvisor ones?)

FINALLY! I have been waiting for these to update for the last few days......been putting together a little pack for our guests with a few vouchers etc. Even managed to blag 25 sets of promotional materials (small flashing vegas badges :rotfl:, maps and canvas shopper bags) from the Las Vegas tourist board.
Got some Vegas r.com vouchers during in the 90% sale....but those are just for the two of us.
Wish I had remembered to get some for San Fran & LA while I was at it - oh well.
Just over two weeks until we fly :jMarried in Vegas - 25th October 2011!

OctoberHi all
Firstly, want to say what a brilliant forum, helped with some of my questions but threw up a few others, so here goes.
First time to Vegas (flying 24th Oct – first time long haul too so a bit nervous:eek:). Staying 5 days and wondering how much cash to take? What’s a decent amount per day without going over the top but being able to have a decent time? Obviously can withdraw at ATMs but don’t want to incur too many charges/fees.
Not sure I get the $20 trick, aren’t your rooms allocated when you book? Not landing until 23.30 (I know! but travelling on a budget) so probably won’t have much choice of room at that time anyway.
Noticed cloudy_nines post re OH’s shirt arrangement, are there dress codes in restaurants?
Also fancying coach trip to Grand Canyon, anyone to steer clear of or are all operators much of a muchness?
Sorry if some of my questions have been answered before but 347 pages are a lot to read through0
