where to begin?? Go for one amazing dinner followed by show? I saw phantom and KA and thought they were both fantastic
Yeah I was thinking a show, but I wasn't sure which one. We've already seen KA and although I loved it, i'm not sure whether we should see O as well? The Kodak theatre in LA also has a new Cirque show on Iris. I'm not sure how good that would be.
I'm a vegetarian and was wondering if anyone knew anywhere nice for dinner with veggie options?0 -

Hope you're right, or I'll have to re-consider what I pack, we're off on the 25th! Hope you have a great time.December 2011 Sesky Watch, strimmer, tv, hoover & steam cleaner. March 2012 Straw dogs blueray film.0 -
MarchA question for Ferf or anyone else who has been to Nascar.
What was it like getting to and from the Track and what is it like in town
Thinking of going next year but it is early March and wife isnt keen becuase it may well not be sunbathing weather.
I may concede and go 3 weeks later and take in the MonsterJam world final (awesome as been twice before) and the weather would be a bit better in theory
In town it was fine - it didn't seem hideously crowded or anything.
As for race-day traffic - grabbed this from my trip report...we did go several days, so having the parking pass did benefit us more than once - but it was race day that it made all the difference in the world we think...the valet at PH was astonished we had come from the track.
I had read that traffic is awful on race day…we were planning on leaving about 9:30…then I ran into a guy in the lift about 8:30 who said that they left between 9:30 and 10:00 last year and they got to the track at 1 ( and race starts at noon )! So I hightailed it back to the room and we left about 8:45.
Traffic was absolutely hideous about 8 miles or so from the track – took about 30 minutes to go one mile at one point and doing the quick maths, we thought we were screwed. But realised not too long after that most of the delay was down to merging traffic from I-215 as the right lane ended – note to self and others – get in the left hand lane as early as you can. In the end we got to the track about 10:15 – so an hour and 45 mins before the race, but both agreed we were very glad we had left earlier than expected as the traffic would surely only have gotten worse.
Left right after the race ended and headed for parking – we had paid for Lucky 7 parking ($59 for the weekend) and were sooo glad we did. Lucky 7 has a designated lot and designated exit from the lot onto the road and onto I-15. We had heard horror stories of 2 hours to even get out of your parking space in the regular lot, then an awfully long wait in traffic. We were back at our hotel in 45 minutes from the time we left our seats. $59 so well spent, we thought!Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
November / DecemberDoes anyone have any experience of staying at The Flamingo please?
I've got 10 nights there with a mate from 7th November. I've been to LV 5 times before but this is my first time at The Flamingo (and my mate's first time in Vegas). It's a fantastic location and I got a real bargain (£265 for the 10 nights after Quidco cashback!) but I'm reading very mixed reviews. I'm concerned that we have a deluxe room, which, judging by many reviews, is a somewhat ironic name for the satandard of room. However, the Go rooms seem to get much better reviews. Has anyone had success (or otherwise) with the $20 trick at this hotel? I also read that there's a check-in desk at baggage claim in the airport - is it there any advantage to using that? Any other tips or pitfalls to watch out for would be much appreciated.

Think that has been closed since 2008 or so? Unless they have reopened it recently.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
