AugustWell thats me booked up with 3 friends at the planet hollywood resort for the 23rd november - cant wait!!!0
-
MayOK - so that's the 3 days between then...
You may have done better to see what it would offer you over NYE? If you could get reduced rates that way...rather than the 25th - 29th comped reservation? Given that NYE weekend will be the more expensive.
This sounds like a good idea, thank you - I think I'll phone them and see what they can do for me, then I'll ring Mlife to see if they will comp the rest of my stay
We have previously found that sometimes we actually do better doing 2 separate bookings - so one under my account, and one under hubby's account - both with 2 guests staying, but without the other as a companion...than if we book on one account with the other as a companion.
I'll remember this for next time I've only stayed at MGM hotels before and couldnt resist when I logged onto TR and it showed I could get comped nights - as most of our play has been at mgm propertys0 -

OMG Dee, one of my friends said there was thunderstorms this morning! They are a couple of blocks from where we stay out there (Windmill & Pecos) I don't get it but tires out there are not made for the wet, we just switched some off the Mustang that we shipped back (they were cheapies Kelly Brand) for UK cheapies (Roadstones) and they are loads better! I'm sure that makes the driving much worse than it needs to be when it rains!

I'm visiting Vegas in October and really want to do the helicopter trip to Grand Canyon but haven't booked yet because still trying to convince travelling companion.
Is it likely to be OK to arrange via Viator or Papillon on the day or is it best to book in advance?0 -
SeptemberOver at the quiz at McMullan's just now, after being at Fashion Show Mall earlier. It is freakily cool just now, only a little bit of heat from the sun late on yesterday! It's weird.0

72*F or 22*C according to the earth cam at the Vegas sign...2 weeks ago it was still 40*C at the same time0 -
AugustA question for Ferf or anyone else who has been to Nascar.
What was it like getting to and from the Track and what is it like in town
Thinking of going next year but it is early March and wife isnt keen becuase it may well not be sunbathing weather.
I may concede and go 3 weeks later and take in the MonsterJam world final (awesome as been twice before) and the weather would be a bit better in theory0 -

Yeah and the major problem here is the drainage system. It can't cope with large amounts of rain so the water just sits on the roads and you have to be very careful not to aqua-plane across them!!!
The journey home to Henderson wasn't quite as bad.....but it is definitely very cool right now0 -
JulyI don't think we would go back to the Vdara. The rooms are fine, it's quiet, but after a few days it's location really starts to annoy!
Also, the gym is carp! Far too small for the size of hotel. As previously pointed out, while you have a kitchenette, you have to phone down for plates and cutlery etc.
Also, we booked on a really good offer that was only in place for a day or so. At checkout, they refused to beleive the deal was as we said it was. Just as well we kept copies of the correspondence with them via Facebook and copies of the webpage.
Sounds very negative, but it's a fine place, but for the same level of room there are other places that are better at same/similar prices.
I guess that shows it's completely horses for courses... for us, the location is perfect - just set back from everything, a simple stroll to the Strip, no tourists gawping round the hotel, would never use the gym as I'm on holiday, and to be honest I've no problem with the kitchens not being stocked: realistically how much will the equipment be used and how much would it cost to stock 1500 rooms? Makes complete economic sense to me
Stopping at Vdara this month. Reading the reviews the pool does not have a good write up. People saying its very cramped, ,unbearably hot and blinding from the reflection from the tall glass buildings ! Is it expensive to use the cabanas? Also can we use other pools in Vegas ? If so which would you recommend? Dont want to be too far away from our hotel when sunbathing.
The pool is very simple, it's not a family pool but then it's not really a family hotel. Unbearably hot is a personal preference, we've been out there in 110+ degrees and loved it. There is a very small 'window' around midday (I think) when the sun reflects down off the hotel ('the death ray'!), but the staff make sure some of the umbrellas are kept up. I've never noticed a problem with blinding light reflections to be honest.
for us, the cabanas were not worth it, as we weren't going to spend a whole day by the pool... there's too much else to do! but if you were going to spend the day there, I'm sure it'd be worth it... you get a/c (I think), big flat screen TV, etc.0 -
Septemberbut it is definitely very cool right now
