Hi everyone,
We head out to Vegas next week in advance of our over there on 29th – we can’t wait! Over the few days surrounding the wedding we’re booked in to stay at the Venetian, so obviously we’ll do our best to play on the “we’re getting married tomorrow” theme at check-in, coupled with the $20 trick. So my question is, assuming we are able to get some kind of ‘complimentary’ upgrade, what would people suggest we try and get bearing in mind the following:
- I assume we don’t want to take-up an offer of the Venezia tower?
- Is the Palazzo a better option overall? I appreciate that the rooms are slightly better, but I’m wary we’d be getting slightly too far up the strip?
- Are the Luxury and Bella suites at the Venetian particularly nicer than the standard rooms? From what I can see the only real benefit is the two queen beds – something we don’t really want?
- Or am I simply best just trying to get a standard ‘Luxury’ room with a strip view room?
And one last question – we drive from Vegas to San Diego for our mini honeymoon within a trip on 2nd October. Does anyone have any experience of this drive and could suggest the most scenic route (bearing in mind we've only got a day to get there) and any good stop-off points?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, and thanks again to everyone for all the hints and tips over the past year whilst we’ve been planning our wedding since our last trip.0 -

how long are you staying for? I was staying for a week at excalibur so did the $40 trick got us a $210 upgrade. I think Palazzo is a bit far up and I didnt really like its casino, I prefered the venetian. I would love to stay that close to Stripburger!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Hi Peeps,
Just a quick question! its come to the time when i am booking my stag weekend for next march, the flights i have had my eye on all week have just gone up by £100 each. Whats everyones experience of fluctuation? are they likely to come down again? If not there are some that are almost as good but arrive a little bit later and leave a little bit earlier, any help would be appreciated?Millionaire in Training

Back home and starting to fight the jet lag. We did a lot of travel this time and ended up in Vegas whilst the weather had a dip in form so its taken the shine of it a bit.
Will try to summarize later but $20 didn't work at PH, but did at Caesars.
Tried to watch Absinthe two nights on the trot but was cancelled with technical difficulties both times (as we turned up to gain entrance). This basically messed up our last couple of days plans for one reason or the other.
Did the Nove Travelzoo offer and quite enjoyed it.
Had chicken fried chicken
Won some / lost some. About even on gambling but the food and the shopping ensured money was still spent.0 -

If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0

I think there was a sale on that ended yesterday, which would be why the flights have gone up
The airlines seem to have had a few sales on over the past 6 months - there might be another before the end of the year - if not there are usually good prices to be had after christmas/new year time.0 -
AugustCaesers Palace question

Updates on The Octavius Tower, Elton John's Expensive Piano and The Future of The Sahara

What does The Octavius Tower, Elton John and Sam Nazarian have in common? Nothing really except they are all making news in Vegas today! First up, the Octavius Tower at Caesars Palace began taking reservations today and we found a deluxe room on January 2nd (opening day) for just $219 a night. That's a lot less than we were guesstimating--we said close to $389 a night--but it's still $20 higher than the new Augustus Tower rooms and remember, right after New Year's is practically the lowest of the low season for Las Vegas. We bet the rates will shoot up once the weather is nice and folks are cavorting around the Garden of the Gods pools again.
EDIT
I think I have answered my own question as it seems the Octavius is a brand new tower..Does that mean the cheap rooms there are still rubbish?0 -
You could have took up both offers (different days). You still can if you are still there. I got offered the $10 free..won $30 and then the next day I planned on losing $100 and then head to the players desk for them to credit $100 freeplay, but put in $50 and came off with about $80 and as I get bored playing slots I called it a dayWell, last night was kind of interesting/weird/fun..... We went over to the Westin to use their pool as ours was closed all day for a function. We could see them setting up a wedding, but we googled and saw there was a wedding show on at the hotel in the afternoon, so thought it was maybe just a set up for that - catwalk or something.lil.smartie wrote: »OMG Dee, one of my friends said there was thunderstorms this morning! I think a combination of a few things makes the roads / pavements slippy - the missus stacked it in her flip flops @ Town Square when it was just a bit damp!0 -
November / DecemberJust got back yesterday and am exhausted so will try to do a TR sometime soon when I've sorted some pics. Absolutely loved Aria though and the corner suite is excellent.0
