Thanks for all your wedding tips so far guys
At the moment we're looking at flying out at the end of April 2013, when will we be able to start booking flights/hotels etc?
And also has anyone ever rented accomodation in Vegas? We were thinking that might work out cheaper than renting rooms/suites for the week of the wedding as there will be approx 10 in the wedding party.
I'd love to hear of anyone's experiences regarding this.

Does it matter where you sit in this restaurant or do you have to request a window table pls?
The Strat was selling party packages for New Year at TOW last year.

Flights 11 months in advance, so ages yet. Hotels soon after that unless you want a package.
Never rented accomodation, but if you do I would recomend at least one night on the strip in a Vegas hotel/casino0 -
November / DecemberHello everyone, I've been lurking on here for a while as I'm planning a trip to Vegas with my OH in november. This will be our first time in vegas ( squeals in excitement) I'm slowly working my way through the thread noting all the fab advice along the way.
My question is on credit cards, neither myself of OH have one is it really necessary to have one for booking in hotels etc? As we've previously had debts our credit rating will probably mean we can't get one so I'm starting to worry if there a requirement.
Thanks. If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you always get so....this year I'm going to do things differently!0 -

It's not necessary as such - but most hotels will want a credit card swipe for $xx per night or a cash deposit of $yy for the trip - in addition to some form of payment on file at the time of arrival...so you could use a debit card to pay for the hotel (they would normally take a swipe of the card, block the necessary amount, then charge it in full at check-out)...but you'll want to be careful about the additional deposit/hold per night - because those funds would be blocked from your debit card for the duration of your stay and for sometime after. Some hotels offer an alternative - a one-off cash deposit up front...duchy I think has experience doing this. Some hotels won't require any hold/deposit amount above the cost of the hotel for your stay.
So it depends really - do you know where you want to stay?Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

Hi
We have rented houses in Vegas 3 times, 2009,10 and we are currently here.
There has been between 6 and 10 of us. My sister and I spend a long time searching on websites as we with all groups you have specific needs, no. of beds, bathrooms etc. We also have to have good pool, hottub, pool table, wifi. At the moment we also have a tennis court and basketball court.
We look on a few websites including www.vrbo.com, www.777rentals.com, www.holidayrentals.co.uk. We have only booked through vrbo so far.
You will obviously need to hire a car. It works better for us as we have 2 boys, it gives us a lot more freedom than being in a room on the strip.
Cost wise like with strip hotels you can get higher end properties or more basic houses, it depends what you want/need.
At the moment we are a 5 min drive from southpoint and a 2min drive from silverton. We have walked back from silverton (20mins). Its a great location easy to get on strip or freeway.
We have combined it with a hotel stay (sometimes just 1 night). We were at Southpoint this time and have had odd nights in MGM and Golden Nugget.
We are lucky to have 2 trips a year 1 without boys where we stay on strip and 1 with boys in a house.
We have never had a problem and owners are friendly and on hand if needed but leave you alone to enjoy your holiday.
If you have any other questions ask or pm xx0 -
OctoberHi All
I was thinking about booking a package with a hotel, but which one?! Any recommendations or places to avoid would be appreciated!
We would prefer this route to a DIY wedding in a chapel on the strip. Is it best to book it in advance or wait until we get there? We'll probably be staying 2-3 weeks in total, combining the wedding & honeymoon
Congrats!
OH and I are getting married in Vegas this October (74 days, 22hrs to go)
Our Trip
Flying direct with Virgin Atlantic on 21st (friend who works for VA got a very nice discount)
7 days standard car hire (booked through Netflights)
We are staying 8nts at MGM Signature (booked direct - recently emailed to get all our guests in the same tower and fingers crossed on the same floor)
Getting married at The Chapel of the Flowers on 25th (Traditional ceremony & with some extra pictures added on)
Followed by group photo tour of Strip in a party bus. (2-4-1) Martinis & nibbles at Level 107 lounge at the Stratosphere.
Dinner at Roy's Hawaiian Fusion restaurant.
4 days Full size SUV hire
Driving LV to San Francisco; stopping 1nt in Death Valley & 2nts in Yosemite
3nts in San Francisco
8 days Mustang hire
Driving San Francisco to LA; stopping 1nt in Monteray, 1nt in Cambria & 1nt in Santa Barbara
4nts in LA
Flying back VA from LA
I will certainly attempt a Trip Report on our return - so we shall see how it all works out. :rotfl:Married in Vegas - 25th October 2011!
:kisses2: Best Holiday EVER0 -
I live in Vegas and I have rented out my home periodically when I am back in the UK. I generally throw in free 'hire' of my vehicles too....as long as full insurance is taken out by the renters. One couple rented it for their wedding party to stay there. I think in the end they regretted it. They said that they never had any alone time!! Not quite sure what they expected renting a home for 14 people!!
Most decent homes will be away from the Strip so you need to figure out how to get to and from there if you want to spend lots of time in the casinos. Taxis are expensive and with a large group could end up costing you a fortune. If you hire vehicles then you obviously have to agree who will be the designated drivers!!!
There are many apartments for rent just off the Strip which may be suitable. You could rent a few apartments and spread everyone out so your not all on top of each other. How long are you intending to stay for?0 -

I've also been thinking about this. We're staying in the Mirage, do you know if they require a hold? I was thinking of trying the one off cash deposit if so, any knowledge of this?0
