long story but my dad & oh's big birthdays are a day apart in 2013, so we are thinking of a surprise vegas trip. seeing as it is so far away, we were gona bust a gut to stock up on tesco vouchers to redeem for miles!
any opinions welcome.
i have been to vegas last year & flew direct with BA - i think i would like to do it this way again.
money is very tight as i am getting married next year, so very little savings at the mo in the vegas pot!
i had 90,000 miles accrued from work trips, and the missus cashed in about £100 of tesco vouchers to get enough miles need to upgrade our economy flights to WT+ we went in June just gone and our WT+ flights cost £535 + 60k miles each compared to £590 for just economy if we hadnt had miles0 -

thanks daz. i really dont know what to do for the best! realistically i dont know if i could gather up that many miles! but will talk to mum & try to decide what to do for the best.
if you book a BA flight, but through a 3rd party, can you still upgrade from economy using miles?
thanks again :-)0 -
MarchThanks for the replies. Yes my win was on a slot and PH filled all forms for me (1c wicked winnings on a $1 bet, best win I've had!) Had a look on the website luci but don't really understand it all! Far too many forms....
So to claim back do we need to fill forms in here and would we get those from casino or wait till we get home?
Thanks again. I wasnt with her when she collected so didn't ask questions.
I would assume that if they didn't do the paperwork to get her an ITIN already then they don't do it as standard - I guess you could ask them if they could do it instead of withholding...not really sure how it works after they have already paid the amount with the 30% withholding.
She should have received a form from the casino documenting the withholding...I think it's that plus another form she will need to fill out in order to make the claim to get the tax back...there are companies that will do it for her for a fee...the form that has to be completed should be somewhere online, but the IRS website isn't the easiest to navigate.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
The Old Homestead Steakhouse (NYC fame) is to replace Neros Steakhouse at Caesar's Palace. A much better steakhouse IMO. So those of you coming over here December 2011 make sure you check it out0

No, it has to be through the executive club via BA ...you can go through the BA shopping portal to buy a mile or two via shopping or convert tesco vouchers, that way your account won't run out.

This may be a silly question, and I've tried reading as much of this thread as possible, but is there an ideal period of time for booking Vegas hotels in advance?
We're looking at 3 nights in Vegas as part of our honeymoon in May 2012 and I've already been looking at hotels. They're currently coming in between $100-$200 per night for the basic room.
Should I wait until say 6 months before for the offers to start coming out? Also am I correct in saying that lots of hotels have a cancellation policy which means a full refund at short notice?
I'm just wondering whether I should hold out a bit or book now!
Thanks

Start looking Jan/Feb for May IMHO. Some but not all bookings are refundable....most will adjust your rate downwards if it is refundable and you ask them to.illegitimi non carborundum0
