Just in case anyone here has tickets, Kings of Leon have cancelled the remainder of their US tour, which include Mandalay Bay on 3 September. The concerts are not going to be rescheduled.

3 weeks today! Will hopefully be somewhere the other side of Ireland now, long as there are no delays. Im staying just outside Heathrow just off M4 night before. Anyone got any suggestions for a good dinner near there, im not familiar with that part of London at all. Rather stay away from indian as it would not be fair on other plane passengers....
Not got itineary confirmation to hand its it 3hrs check in still for US flights?

Okay - we are off to Vegas on Sunday for a week. Wife, and two boys 9 and 12 in tow.

We are staying at the Tahiti Village for 4 nights then the Trop for 3 nights - both have great pools for the kids.

We are foodies rather than gamblers - so this is the focus of our entertainment in the evenings.

Anyone been to The Prime Rib Loft in the Orleans - can I take the boys there or is it a gambling zone?

I think we will go to Buffet at the Bellagio too - any tips -champagne lunch or dinner?

    Finally, the Cheesecake Factory.

All of them are well reviewed on the likes of TA etc.

    Can we dress in shorts?

    Any advice/tips welcome....

    Is there any?

I cant say I have noticed any and I first took my son when he was 4. Vegas is marketed as an adult playground so I would be surprised to find much if any childcare

All the hotels can provide in -room sitters and the Orleans have a kid's creche/club called Kids Tyme which at around $7 an hour seems like a good deal.

No problem taking the kids into the Prime Rib Loft at the Orleans.

As for shorts so long as you don't team them with socks and sandels and a hanky on your head-Yes-t-shirts and shirts must be worn tho-no male topless in the eating places. ;)

Cheescake factory I can not wait to go either its meant to be amazing but big portions. if your going to Orleans they had a offer on groupon a couple of days ago not sure if it is valid but was like $5 for 2 games of bowling might be good if over there. If I go to orleans think I will go into TGI Fridays

There's a great little pub on the Heathrow North Perimeter Road (basically on the "strip" of hotels) called The Three Magpies.

It's not gourmet cuisine by any stretch (it's a Greene King pub I think) but its good pub grub and compared to what you'd typically pay in and around London / Heathrow, fantastic value.

If you have a facebook account and an Mlife card, you can get 5000 tier credits by following this link. There wasn't an option for UK or GBR in the location box, but it didn't seem to matter. It accepted my info no problem.
