3 weeks today! Will hopefully be somewhere the other side of Ireland now, long as there are no delays. Im staying just outside Heathrow just off M4 night before. Anyone got any suggestions for a good dinner near there, im not familiar with that part of London at all. Rather stay away from indian as it would not be fair on other plane passengers....
Not got itineary confirmation to hand its it 3hrs check in still for US flights?

Which hotel? We have stayed in a few...also liked Three Magpies when we stayed at Park Inn...agree it's not gourmet, but was an awful lot better than the Park Inn room service we resorted to once (fish and chips - £19.50 EACH and they were awful...but it was late and our only option).

    I like this site.

    http://www.londontoolkit.com/lhr/park_inn_prk_lhr.htm

There are similar pages for many of the LHR hotels...which tells you what is in the immediate vicinity...scroll down and click on the hotel you are staying at if it is listed.

When we've stayed at the Holiday Inn M4, J4 we have had dinner at the Thai/Chinese restaurant there...by no means moneysaving, but we like it.

We're at the Ramada next trip I think - need to research. :)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

    Hello,

We have only a weekend in Las Vegas at the end of this month, it is within a bigger trip and I have done no planning whatsoever for it. It will be our first time, for four of us in our 20's and now looking into it, it looks as if we are spoiled for choice.

I was wondering if we there is any suggestions or even an itinerary for how to see the best of Vegas(in your 20's:wink:) in only 2 days. We are staying at The Flamingo 'GO rooms', which looks central. Would like to go to a good buffet, see some famous sights, a fun & young casino and some mid end bars -we are looking for any deals as well... I snapped up some groupon vouchers for The Palazzo Azure pool entry w/open bar although in hindsight it does not look as good a deal as I thought.

Any recommednations would be great, arrive late fri night and leave crack of dawn on mon... wish we had longer:(

    Thanks

How strange, I just tried this with my MGM Mirage Players Club card as I don't have the M life one yet and I still received the points. I'll have to remember to check it out when over there next.

I think your !!!!!! number will be the same as your MGM number was - ours are at least (double checked and I have emails back to at least 2008 from MGM with the same number as my mlife card)...so you should be fine. :)

Not a lot of time and the busiest time of the week - so may be a bit crowded. I'd try Planet Hollywood for the 'young and fun' casino I think...not sure what qualifies as a 'mid-end bar'...buffets are relative - everyone has their favorites - and depends on what you want to spend...we're trying Wicked Spoon next trip based on the (mostly) good reviews...we like the PH buffet but some here have found it's gone downhill. Rio Carnival World is massive - it's been several years since we have been but keep meaning to see if it's still as we remember. Our favorite high-end buffet is Wynn, but we have never actually paid for it and I don't know that we would for the price.

As for deals - to be honest, if you are there for that short a period of time, I wouldn't sweat it too much...you have a limited amount of time to get the most out of your trip...don't spend much time chasing down deals...pick a few things you MUST do (and find out now if there are any easy to come by discounts for those things) - and then let the rest just take shape naturally. Otherwise you could spend those 2 days rushing around and not really experiencing anything.

That's what my fast-approaching-middle-age self thinks. My early 20s-self would probably completely disagree with me.

If you insist on seeing as much as you can - get a bus pass for 24 hours...get on the bus Saturday morning and go down to the south strip (maybe to the Welcome to Las Vegas sign - whatever the closest stop is) and work your way back to Flamingo...then decide if you want to do the same thing the next day, going to the north strip and work your way back to home base. It will be hot, so you may not want to do that much walking.

The 2 things I would want to see if I only had 2 days would be the Bellagio fountains and the MGM lions...but that's just me...I loves them fountains and lions. :)

I'd add the Bellagio conservatory to that. I'm too old to suggest good bars for your age, but we did enjoy the Chandelier bar at Cosmopolitan.

I would second Ferf's advice and also say don't try and cram it all in two days. You cannot see it all in two days even if you never went to bed.

See the Bellagio Fountains ( they are near The Flamingo) , see a show maybe , and have wander . sticking to a regimented itinerary won't be much fun.
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

If you don't want them contact Groupon and they will cancel your order and refund you.
We bought these but after researching found that the cost does not include anywhere to sit so I canceled the order. Even a sunbed will cost you another $40 each. Be prepared to stand all day. Also if you just walk up and pay $20 entry fee it includes the open bar, cocktails and premium liquor are not included in the deal. Now imagine how crowded the bar area is going to be for 2 hours with everyone trying to get as trollied as possible.
Go to the Flamingo pool during the day on Saturday if you like young and lively, but get there early. They are supposed to charge $20 each if you are not staying there but we got in free 3 days on the trot. You will not be allowed to take any food or drinks in with you, and that means water as well, but just ask the servers for water and it will be delivered free.
As for mid end bars, well sitting at a 5 cent slot in PlanetHo and getting free drinks is as good as anything IMHO. Drinks in Vegas are EXPENSIVE, even the Americans do a double take when they see how much a beer ($6-$8) and a cocktail ($12-$14)costs them
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

If I only had 2 days in vegas I would not even venture near a pool, I can have a week in spain for £250 to sit by a pool.
I love the playboy bar and moon night club for the evening in the Palms casino, So much to do during day can take a day to walk up one side of the strip catch monorail back then go up other side next day, you can spend 2hrs just in the forum shops at ceasers.

And maybe being in their 20's they might not want to go shopping, but experience what parting during the day by a pool with lots and lots of people their own ages is about in Vegas, like no other pool parties you will ever imagine.
