Buy a can of Static-Guard (in any Walgreens/Walmart/Albertsons etc). Just give your clothes/hair/hands/soles of shoes a quick spray.....stops the static much better than dryer sheets.

Static Guard is a godsend - I've never actually considered using it in Vegas, oddly...though I'm not a huge fan of the scent.

My mum takes loads of it when she goes home to England...I've even had to ship her more supplies in between visits here. :rotfl:

Not sure we want to go around smelling of that stuff on a night out all dressed up.
BTW ever noticed how the static is worse in Walmart than almost anywhere else. I once asked a shelf stacker about it and she said that's why they all wear rubber gloves.

It is rumoured to stop the static shocks from door handles, lift buttons, slot machines, car doors, in fact pretty much everything I touch. The shocks are bad enough that anyone standing around me can hear them, they are just like a mild electric shock (guess thats because they are)

I have a Thomas Cook Cash Passport (Visa) and see they have quite a few outlets in Vegas. From what I understand, Thomas Cook charge £2.50 per transaction but suggest the local ATM may charge a fee in addition. Anybody have any experience of this?

The TravelEX card looks better value as they say they do not charge an ATM fee themselves?

How would you chose to take money? We are going in October but for various reasons would like to put spends aside right now which is why loading a card with USD sounds a good idea! (plus the USD exchange rate is quite good right now)

Finally, my digital camera has packed in - used to be the case that you could save loads by purchasing stateside in somewhere like Frys (think there is one on or close by the strip if I recall) This still the case?

Stop Press - Did some better searching and it would appear that the FairFX card is the best option - unless someone knows different!

Figure out what sort of camera you want - price it up in the UK - then you can go online and look at Frys.com, bestbuy.com, walmart.com etc and get an idea what the same or similar sells for there...in some cases you can buy online to collect on a particular shop...in some cases you can check stock availability at a particular store too.
