My boyfriend and I are off to Vegas for the first time in September as his best friend is getting married there the day before my boyfriends 30th birthday... so it seemed too good an opportunity to miss!!
I'm not exactly well travelled so I have quite a few questions if anyone is able to answer them? (apologies if they have been asked before)
We are staying at the Mirage for half our trip and the Luxor for the rest. The Mirage boking is discounted through the wedding party already but I was wondering about the $10 upgrade trick - worth a try at the Luxor?!
We are booking our Grand Canyon trip through Papillon and will be doing the one that lands and then you can go rafting on the river - will I be able to take a camera or might that be a bit risky on the raft bit?
What do people wear in Vegas?! May sound a daft question but all i've ever seen of it is Oceans Eleven and i'm not s
ure Brad and George's wardrobes are entirely representative of standard attire!!
What do you wear to a Vegas wedding?!! It is at the Primrose Garden of the Wynn if that makes any difference?!
And finally, if there was one thing you wish someone had mentioned before you first visited Vegas - what was it?!!
Thanks, I need this holiday more than you can imagine and just talking about it is going some way to making a difficult day a bit easier!!
The one thing I wish someone had told me was to take the most comfortable shoes I own. Do not underestimate how much walking you will do. If you're going to take heels make sure you put flip flops in your handbag when you go out.
The weather will be hot in September so you just need summer clothes, only need to dress up for clubs and some very expensive restaurants. Shorts and summer dresses are fine for nearly all the time. As for what to wear for a wedding, I'd wear something similar to what you'd wear here.
Definitely take a camera to the grand canyon (maybe get a small bag that goes across you to keep valuables in).
Have a great trip!0 -
MayAbsolutely take your most comfortable shoes. Heels are OK if you are getting taxis everywhere.0

Marchcomfortable shoes, definately.
And if you are at all prone to dry skin - bring some heavy duty lotion or body butter or something...I swear I go through a tub in a week there...and now know to start with it immediately - don't wait for the heat/air-con/overbleached towels and sheets to kick in.
And if you're going to gamble, join the players clubs and use your card...you never know a) what it might get you while there and b) what it might get you for next trip (there's a reasonable possibility there will be a next trip).

Having a discounted room for the wedding may not mean that you're excluded from a potential upgrade...I'm not sure, but I would guess that the wedding package discount may not be much different than the discounts that can easily be found online.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

AugustAgree with Ferf about skin cream....if you have dry skin in the UK it will be a lot lot worse in Vegas, altho we generally use the lotions in the room and just leave a tip for extra bottles.
Did someone mention comfortable shoes0 -
MayAnd lip salve, preferably with a high SPF factor if you suffer from cold sores.0

And a few sheets of Bounce.illegitimi non carborundum0

AugustAnd a few sheets of Bounce.
LOL I have never tried that, I just get zapped each time I touch something, especially video slots, so much so i get scared to touch them.
Although last year was the first time I had been in August as opposed to March/april time and the static wasnt so much of a problem0 -
AugustThanks for all the advice... I will draw up a list of things to do, but am quite happy to go with the flow and I know my BF has a few plans....which involve motorbikes, golf and gambling!
