I was just reading on the other thread about high charges for withdrawing using a credit card. I'm wondering if that is from the machines you see on the casino floor which say something about credit card cash advance? I wouldn't use one of those and the normal ATM worked fine.

I can only speak for that one machine, but I used it twice no problem.

I don't remember there being different machines for CC cash advances - I remember ATMs that do both debit card and credit card transactions with different fee structures...I know in the UK there are separate machines, but can't recall seeing them in Vegas, but have never really looked for them.

I haven't paid too much attention, as I have no intention of using them, but I'm sure inside certain casinos there are machines that say something about credit card advances. They are often near the ticket redemption machines.

hm...OK, will have a closer look next trip...I'm sure that the ATMs we have used in casinos have had the signs about credit card advances on them - we've only used them with debit cards as a normal ATM transaction...so I always thought they were the same machines.

Found the thread at Open Vegas - had the pictures opened and closed the thread accidentally...pictures are small but general idea is there.

    But pictures...of the machines...

Of the fees (too small to make out everything, but if you blow it up you get the idea).

    10005695am.th.jpg

In this case it was $3.50 as an ATM fee (so a normal debit card transaction)...$2.95 + 4% for 'debit fee' which someone explained was a debit card over its limit I think and credit card cash advance fees, with the withdrawal amount (ranges from $xx to $yy) and fees for each value withdrawal...that's where the scary fees came in...it's this sort of thing that always made me wary of even considering a cash advance on a credit card in Vegas...but it's interesting to know that not all ATMs are created equal. I assume that the machine will tell you what the fee will be before you commit - so if there's a scary fee machine you'll have warning before you actually complete the transaction.

Stone Cold Creamery (FAB ice cream)

Cold Stone Creamery is one of my favorites! Vanilla with graham crackers, caramel sauce and pecans is what I get every time...every single time I get the medium size (love it, I think) and every single time I realise I really should order the small (like it, I think)...

Congrats on the wedding and sounds like you guys have had a great trip - I love the idea of going to Vegas, then going somewhere else, then going back to Vegas for a bit...I may have to see if we can work that out sometime. :)

Well last day here in Vegas for a week, heading to Cabo tomorrow for our honeymoon. We seem to have done lots in the last 11 days, but to most people it would be fairly boring I guess so I won't go into too much detail...

Have had a squillion In and Out's (mmmmmmm :-),Hot & Juicy Crawfish (great meal if you don't mind the way it's served) went to see Soundgarden at The Joint in HR last night (awesome venue, if you have the chance to see a concert there definitely go for it), been on a Helicopter Strip tour, flew to South Rim of Grand Canyon, Afternoon Tea @ Mandarin Oriental, Stone Cold Creamery (FAB ice cream) as well as all the outlets and Town Square. Also discovered Target stores, had some grat bargains in there including Paul Frank stuff and OPI nail varnish which were both much cheaper than elsewhere, oh and the obligatory stock up on sweets and sauces at Walmart....oh yeah, we got married last Tuesday too :-)

Has been a blast so far, hectic having 12 friends/family here so looking forward to our beach week of doing nothing except being pampered. Sex & The City slots have been pretty good to me, which is rare for me as I am really not a gambler of any kind.We return to Vegas on 1st August for another 4 days to stay in the Mandarin so planning on doing more Strip based stuff then (to be honest we did most of it last year though so this year has been a very different trip for us)

If anyone has any Q's please feel free to message me---off to The Palms now for some lunch action :-)

    Big Congrats!

Grr. Booked our flight from Las Vegas to San Diego last week there and got charged twice from southwest. Luckily I didn't have enough in my account since it's the end of the month so they couldn't take it off me and my bank were able to cancel it.

Just wondering what everyone means about the whole card scanning thing, is it worse in vegas? is there anything I need to be more careful about when over?
