AAA is for American Automobile Association. It's the same sort of thing for us USA residents as AA/RAC.

Thanks for the quick reply Dee....

I'm interested in this too - where was the ATM you used? Was it one in a casino or somewhere else? and you're sure that there was no fee built into the withdrawals? When we withdraw cash on our debit card we may withdraw $400 - but on the statement it comes through as $404.99 - the $400 withdrawal plus the $4.99 fee for using a debit card at ATMs that charge $4.99...it doesn't split out the fee separately.

Sorry for the confusion. I should have been more specific. I was talking about interest charged by Halifax for using my Clarity to withdraw cash from an ATM. I was not talking about ATM charges. These aren't controlled by Halifax

For what it's worth, from my rough calculations. If you have a Clarity @ 12.9% APR a $500 withdrawal will cost you ~10p per day in interest.

We mostly withdrew from casino royale with a $1 charge.

Has anyone used the MGM-Mirage 2 free buffets a day vouchers promo from a few weeks back? Interested to see if you get handed vouchers or if you just charge them to your room.
Apologies if this has already been covered, I couldn't see anything on it.

Can't remember seeing 2 free buffets a day. However make sure they explain what is included in your package at check in.

We had the 2 for 1 daily buffet included and I didn't notice that the check in clerk didn't mention it. I knew from previous trips that you charge it to your room and it is taken off at check out.

It wasn't taken off after checking the account on the TV so I had to call down.

Never had a problem before and it doesn't help that the email confirmation doesn't show any extras that are included in the room rate.

I would suggest calling them just to check what is included in your room rate if you are in any doubt, but definitely get them to go over it at check in.

As I said, we've never had a problem before and they always state at check in what is included. I just didn't notice that they didn't mention the extras at check in as I was taken aback that our room was actually ready for once!

    Was it this one

MGM Resorts - Book 2 nights/Get Free Buffet every day - Expires 6/27/2011

This offer is valid for breakfast or lunch only at all participating outlets with the exception of Monte Carlo, where it is valid for brunch only, and Luxor, where brunch is included. Bellagio and The Signature at MGM Grand are not participating in this promotion. Chin Chin at New York-New York is not included in this offer. Buffet is only valid once per day, per person (maximum 2 people per room, $20 per person). This offer does not accumulate if unused. Offer is not valid for dinner and gratuity is not included. Some properties may require a coupon to be presented at the buffet for redemption. These coupons will be provided at check-in.

Thanks for the clarification - it was the ATM fees I was wondering about.

So I think it's me having been confused by the scary charges - which we've read elsewhere now apply if you don't us a PIN, so wouldn't apply to those using the Clarity Card in normal circumstances.

We may look into getting one as it's an interesting idea.

This is my tip for everyone who has a bunch of gadgets to recharge. Take a 4 way extension lead with you. I could easily recharge everything from that and only use one socket in the room. We have a computer, 2 x mobiles, 2 x cameras and various other stuff to recharge regularly. With the extension lead it was much easier, and nowhere near as much messing about. I wish I'd done it years ago.

If some of you already do this, why didn't you tell me!

Ferf, the daily withdrawal with the Clarity is £500 a day so a decent amount. The Nationwide FlexAccount is only £300 a day, but you can get double that if it's a joint account of course.

I paid off our withdrawals as I had internet access anyway, but I wouldn't worry if I didn't as it's only 0.5% after 2 weeks and 1% after a month.
